900 custom rear fender

I've searched the forums and can't find the answer I am looking for. Anyone with a 900 Custom that has totally removed the whole license plate, light, blinker thing hanging off the back end of the bike? I am thinking I want to remove it and install a vertical mounted, led lighted license plate, and install some bullet blinkers. I am not sure where or how I will install the blinkers as the rear fender seems to flimsy to only bolt it to that. I have thought that I could install a metal backing plate inside the fender to increase strength. Or I could fabricate something that attaches to the metal fender brackets.

Anyone with experience in this and anyone with photos of such a modification. Or even anyone with an opinion, except someone telling me I am an idiot for changing anything on my bike.

i used an integrated taillight setup, but im sure that u can mount real blinkers in the holes that are used to mount the plastic/chrome fender rail. You may have to get smaller blinkers though- heres a pic of mine--->

Does the vertical plate holder have a white light or just the little red reflectors?

Whoaaa, that is even better than I wanted. Where are the blinker lights? Are they in the brake light? And how does that work and where did you get it? If only it was black because I heard black is faster!!

And did you remove the belt guard too?

it doesnt come with the lights but i got them on ebay for about $20 and wired them myself. not hard just time consuming...

the blinkers are integrated, trashman put up a photo of how they work, yea i removed the belt guard, just for fun- its probably not safe or whatever but i just dont like the 'plasti-chrome' look of it so i dropped as much of it as possible

yea they are about the same distance as the stock forwards, but these are all chrome/aluminium. They are mapas (?) i cant really remember the name of the company, but i bought them on ebay, got a pretty good deal...

so they dont move your feet foward at all?

I am working on a different idea where the turn signals will be intergrated into the fender I will let you know how it turns out and post pics when done.
