Default VN900 custom - Rear Tire size question

Well, of course I am in need of a new tire due to a lovely metal shard that has implanted itself in my rear tire. Soo... my question is..

I've heard of people putting a slightly wider tire on there customs, and I was wondering exactly what tire size would fit? I need to order one ASAP, as I have a slow leak in my tire and have been riding around with it for about a couple weeks (stupid, I know but a bit short on the funds right now..)

Would the dealership that I bought the bike from (still under warranty) give me any troubles with putting a bigger tire size on?

TIA!

Cheers,
Adrian

Many have the Metzzler 880 200 wide they run. Do a search and you will find a lot of info.
I plan on running this tire, as soon as mine is gone. How many miles did you get from the stock?

I have about 2,500 miles on my stock tire right now, but I'm only replacing it cause I ran over some sort of metal piece and I've got a slow leak and I don't want to end up getting a flat or a blowout even, so a replacement is in need. I figured if I'm going to replace it, I might as well make it look better.

So, will the metzeler ME880 200/70HB-15 fit my VN 900 custom without having to do any other sort of work? I searched the forum and didn't really find much of an answer. I've been seeing I might have to change the profile size? Whats the deal with this.. anyone use this tire on there 900 custom?

There finally was a picture posted, I will try to find it.

It fits, no work, it is taller and the extra height helps correct the bad speedometer readings.

I have done some measuring and there is no doubt a 200 will fit without mods or any custom fitting. However, any wider and plan on a lot of work. I test rode a Victory Vegas and it had a 250 and honestly I absolutely hated it because it was hard to turn and it just felt like the bike was in control not me.
Anyways, Metzler 880 200 should be a go that is what I am going to do when I need a new rear sneaker.

Had the same issue
I went with the stock size in a Bridgestone exedra g702 and am very happy with the improved ride and handeling
Price and availability was much better also

I'm still dying to know if the 200 AND the lowering kit would work... also how difficult of an install is the lowering kit?

I'm in the same boat, I need new tires and the only options I've seen are the pirelli mt-66's, overpriced OEM garbage, the expensive avon front (with no matching rear) or the metzler rear (with no matching front).

I really don't know what to do.
