Picked up a kawa gel seat from the bike shop. All i could do is install it and sit on it. Since we still have tons of snow to deal with, riding on it is still a couple of months away.
However, it fits the bike well and feels decent on the saddle and the passenger seat. But the real test will be a days ride. Hopefully it will meet my expectations. Canadian price of seat, $287. plus 15% tax. Its a bit high price so I"m hoping our butts will appreciate it. |

If you never buy an engine guard, that seat and a front pulley will be the best money ever spent on your 900.
The gel seat is great, if there is any complaint, if it sits in the sun during the summer, that gel will soak up and hold the heat. Probably won't be an issue for you though. That seam/dip in the seat gives you some real back support, and keeps you planted in one spot. Hope you get to test it out soon. Last edited by ks_greg : 01-26-2008 at 08:08 PM. |

John, I had that seat put on my 900 Classic when I picked up the bike from the dealer. We've been riding on it for six months and love it. Really great on a long run, your backside will appreciate it without a doubt.
Ride safe and enjoy the new seat.

You can get a but pad from <Alaska Leather> Home of the Sheepskin Buttpad - Motorcycle Seat Cover and you will keep that gel seat out of the sun, and get better ventilation down where it counts.
Either way remember, you HAVE to break that gel seat in before it really will feel as comfortable as possible. Considering your situation, you have no choice but to go down to the garage, get on the bike and make Brrrrroooom brrrroooom noises for a couple hours a day. After a week, it should be ready. Not that you'll be able to get it out on the street for a couple months yet. Me, I road today. Tomorrow is going to be nicer and mid 50's. So I'll naturally be at the mother in laws. I don't want to talk anymore.

Good to hear your review of the seat. I'm glad to hear our butts will enjoy it. The hard part now is waiting for biking weather. The cold I don't mind, its the cornering on snow and ice that I wont do. Only 100 more sleeps till we ride.

just purchased a 2006 900 classic with 1500 miles on it, new to the forum but have been lurking for weeks, silverbrick is her name, the stock seat seems ok, but after reading and evaluating my intended use (long range with bad joints) I ordered a gel seat from ace today, 244 for the stud model, probably too much probably but I need to get this naked baby dressed, will let everyone know my eval. when I get it, I live notheast pa. but ride when the road isn't covered with snow or ice, planning a crosser in late august, trip time about 3 weeks, anyone think that isn't enough time? Thanks to all the great info I have found here, what a resource. Let me clarify the crosser, its pa to wisc, thru the dakotas, montana, wyoming, utah (gonna get a couple of young wives while I'm there)arizona, new mehico, on the way back through the smokies and blue ridge parkway! not a sea foamer trip
