Just a brief short story on our experience of the stock shield and lowers from Kwaki.
My brother and I bought the shields without the lowers just in case they werent needed. We installed the said bits of kit and of course found we ended up getting head aches from the buffeting. Ok fine, we bought the lowers and duly fitted those. My brother found that the buffeting wasnt really fixed for him but I was fine.
We checked the angle of the shields and they were identical , which isnt surprising as they shield cant be put on at any different angle anyway but we had to check. We checked the lowers and of course the position was the same. We were total flummoxed . I thought , ok he is a little shorter than me so lets lower his shield. We did that and still no difference he was suffering from major buffeting still.
I resorted to trying his bike and I really did notice the difference between my bike and his. It was unbearable, my head pounded after riding above 50 mph. This was silly his bike was identical to mine. Or was it?
Kawasaki issue the lowers with two types of shield. One set is a oval shape the other is the same oval shape but on one corner the shield is cut slightly in an oval so it looks like a bite has been taken out of them. Now because my brother had put on the ones without the bite out of them I put the others on just to be different.
Surly this wouldnt be the problem? We swapped the lowers with the cut out ones and as if by magic the buffeting vanished.
Amasing what a bite out of your lowers can do isnt it?
Hope this helps anyone else who buys the stock kawasaki lowers.
