Default Headlight bulbs

I just noticed that my headlight is not working. Any opinions on a better replacement or just go with original?

I've been running a Zenon blue 60/100 for about a year and between the brighter Zenon and the increased wattage, it pretty much lights up the night.

Brian,

Head to your local NAPA store and pick up a Wagner 80/100 bulb. It's much brighter than the 55/80 original and is made specifically for motorcycles. They last a long time. More info here: http://www.gadgetjq.com/headlight_replacement.htm

Cheers,
Gadget

Hey brian. I just picked up from my local honda dealer an 80/100, p/n 6365, made my eiko ltd. I looked at napa and carquest for the wagner bulb listed on gadget's web site, but had no luck-napa was no help at all, carquest ordered a ge bulb but it was 24 volt.

By the way- Welcome gadget! That is your website, yes?

not to disagree with you since you seem to know what you are doing, but i see a problem with that upgrade. if the stock system is running a 55/80 bulb then don't you forsee problems going to an 80/100 ? i mean that isn't much of a jump, but the point is that the electrical system on the bike was designed around a 55/80 bulb. my recommendation would be to go with a bulb that is 55/80 but a cleaner light, more like the one that Alex has on order. just my $0.02

You might think that's the case but even on high beam (100 watts) you're only pulling 7.9 amps. The headlight circuit is fused at 10 amps. I've been running the higher powered bulb about four years now with no problem.

Cheers

Gadget,

I am glad to see you are on this forum. For some reason I thought your were already a part of it.

I have read many things on your web page and appreciate the trouble you took to put together a good source of info for Classics and Nomads.

I think you will be another jewel in this already jewel encrusted forum.

Welcome!!
