I know what your all thinking... "not another thread about this...."
Yeah kinda it is. But I just spoke with Baron Inc regarding their BAK for my 900 Custom and asked the question, "Do I need a fuel comp add on or not"? His official answer is that if I want to get absolute top performance from my bike and the BAK then yes I should get a Fuel Comp. But I can add the BAK as is and still get performance increases and it WILL NOT cause an issue with my engine. His reasoning is basically this.... Modern bikes like my 900 Custom have an air intake similar to a modern car. Air flow sensor, O2 sensor, etc. The OEM computer on my bike has to adjust the fuel flow accordingly. It wont be as performance tuned as an after market addon like the FI2000R, but it will still be just fine. After I thought about this, I had to agree that it does make sense. I know not everyone will agree, but he satisfied my question of weather or not I can safely use a BAK without the Fuel Comp upgrade. Safe Riding! Mitch |

That being said you can add your BAK with out a fuel processor. But if you do plan on adding pipes as well you will need some type of fuel processor.

I have O2 sensors on my 900 Custom. I live in the UK and was only tonight contemplating how to hook up some Cobra Shorts if i buy them...
I don't really want to drill into a brand new set of pipes to install the sensors! But if i don't drill the pipes, then i have to buy a PCIII or Fi2000R with an O2 eliminator. ... even though (for the american bikes) you don't need one when just installing the pipes. So does that mean I either drill the pipes and don't need an EFI, or I drill the pipes and have to buy an EFI with O2 eliminator? (i intend on getting a BAK at some point too, so i'll probably have to buy all 3 and install them at the same time) Last edited by insolentminx : 03-27-2008 at 07:44 PM. |

I live in the US. Ohio Specifically.
I wasnt planning on changing the pipes. I like the stock ones for now. I am changing the front pulley though and am hoping that the BAK will compensate somewhat for the low end trade off with the larger front pulley. |

I don't really want to buy an EFI from the USA either just incase something goes wrong. There's a DynoJet authorised dealer near me so I'll probably ask them. |
