Default Your VN800 top speed

I was just curious, I know I'll get some off the wall numbers no doubt. But I'm not a speed demon by any sense of the word, so I really havent tested mine. I am wondering whats the most some of the members have had thier VN800 up to MPH-wise, when they've really tried it. I have mine grampsized with V&H straightshots and I"ve only challenged mine with 85MPH and I know it should do more than that. So Thanks in advance.

I've got up to 87mph but my checks felt like they were trying to peel away from my skull.

I've seen a guy locally who has a VN800 he set up for dirt drags do 110mph on a sand track!!

Default vn800 - 95ish so far

slightly over 95 for several miles on freeway. had a little wiggle when i got over that, which reminded me of the wobble that gave me a face plant on a freeway , so 95 was it. ( and that was with 17 sprocket on the front. recently put 19 on, and havent tested yet)

Buried the speedo in fourth gear ,several times and it didn't take that long to do either.

How accurate is your speedo? Am I right in thinking you did the sprocket mod, or is my recollection wrong? Thanks in advance.

Don't think I've ever gone past 80. I value my hearing

I don't think I have exceeded 75 as the 800 isn't comfortable at all at speeds over 55-60 IMO. I'm more of a cruising type of guy when it comes to motorcycles.

According to speedo 110mph and was still climbing. I was trying to pass a couple logging trucks on a 2 lane hilly road and i nearly twisted the throttle off getting around them. BTW this was in 5th gear and there was about another whole truck length between them so it was like passing 3 log trucks at one time.

I have scooterized the bike and have HK drag pipes also.

Wind noise? I dont have a problem with that. Have Switchblade windhield, altho it doesnt reach all the way down cz of light bar. Had to rig something in the dap over winter, with Pipe Wrap. I was getting lot of cold, but noise isnt an issue for me.

My 800A maxed out the needle and twisted the cable apart twice.

My 800B tops out at 70. Time to part it out?

Real world max is about 105. Drag becomes overwhelming above 100. If you wind it all the way out over several miles it will "feel" like it is pulling strong and still accelerating, but the speedo and GPS will indicate a steady 105-6 mph. Some who are really in tune with their 800's (Wookchuck) will get more.

i probly haven't gone over 80 on mine.. i also value my hearing and my cobras are effin loud with my baffles out.. when you get going that fast on a bike that isn't exactly made to push that fast the vibrations in your hands become so small and fast that you start to get that feeling you're going to explode.. i don't want to explode. i keep it 70 or below usually.. it's just not comfortable.

I have had my B up to 90 on a couple of occasions and stability wise, it was fine. A little more vibes at that speed.

I've had the Drifter up to 80-85mph on I-25 and it seemed fine, stable and more on the throttle if I wanted to twist it. With my 300pd butt in the saddle and the weight of the Bike, thats nearly 900pds going down the road.

last time I checked it was off by about 10%(was doing 90 indicated at the time and the speed trap read 82) now whether or not it gets worse the faster you go over 90 I don't know. Yes on the sprocket mod ,running 18/40 set up. I also have a set thats 16/48, top speed is only a 100mph but the bike flys up there quick(keeping the frontend on the ground at takeoff can be a challange though)

Have you checked your wifes bike speed with a gps? and if you have did you noticed if the speedo was consistently off the same amount ,say from 30mph to 90mph?
