Anyone have the Kawi Gel and have anything negative to say about it? Wife and I just took our longest ride yet on the Mustang. I really like the fit/feel, but I really want to put 400 miles a day on the bike vs. the 250 I'm hitting now befor numb butt sets in. Is the Kawi passanger seat as wide as the stangs?
I have the 76127 on this site Mustang Motorcycle Products, Inc. - Kawasaki Vulcan 900 2006-up & Custom 2007-08 Sooooo maybe I just need to break the seat in a bit longer. I only have about 600 miles on it. But then again, my wife doesn't ride enough with me that I think she'll ever break in the passanger seat. I really need something she doesn't have to break in and can jump on and go all day with it. Thanks Jason

Not sure the wife will give it much longer LOL. I'm thinking of ordering the Kawi and giving it a try and just selling the one I decide not to keep. I think there is a market to sell either without taking to much of a loss. Just something I'm kicking around, but if someone has some solid negatives I may not do it. Just trying to keep the wife happy

I've only had my Kawi gel seat a few weeks and the most I put on so far was 200 miles but with stops. I will be putting a good 1200 or so miles on it next week and will get a better feel for it. It is much better than stock and the passenger seat is wider. I can't believe it would be any better than your Mustang seat.

How did you feel after 200 miles on the gel seat?

I'll be interested in hearing which one you end up going with. I need to get rid of the stock seat and am trying to decide between kawi gel, mustang vintage wide, or saddlemen explorer (gel). I just wish someone would tell me which one to get so I could get on with it! Stock seat is killing me! keep us posted!

Well it was not 200 miles straight but I did notice a big difference over stock. I think about 80 miles was the most non stop and it was no problem at all. I've heard the Mustang moves you closer to the tank ... did not feel like the gel seat did. It seems to give me some lower back support compared to stock.

Yea, the Mustang also gives a lot of lower back support. I can't say it's uncomfortable at all. It just seems to push me forward a bit. And with the new risers on this season I think it's just a bit to much. So I'm leaning more and more toward the gel seat. I like the seat position and height of the stock seat and if the Gel maintains that.../shrug. I really haven't heard any negatives about the gel. I'd like to hear someone who has put 400 miles on it in a day and how they felt at the end of that day.

My Mustang seat is great and enabled me to ride without discomfort regardless of a low back condition I have. Without it I would not be riding. Funny thing is my wife did not really like it at first but then she never road on the OEM either. Give your Mustang a little longer time to get used to it.

Everyone's bums are different. I customized my stock seat with a medical grade gel pad (I deal in medical equipment, customize and modify wheelchair cushion etc....) and it didn't even come close to offering the support and comfort that the Mustang does for me.
I can't comment on the Kawy gel seat specifically, just give my .02 from my own personal butt experiance. I just love my Mustang seat, I can put a 10 hour day in the saddle and still be able to get off at the ed of the day and walk upright.

I guess the Mustang works great for some people and not so good for others. I had one on my 1600 Vulcan, and while it was better than the stocker, any ride over 2 hours was pure misery. The stock seat on my V2K is hard on the a$$ too, but no way was I gonna buy another Mustang seat for it. I'm having a custom "Russell Day-Long" seat put on it in a few weeks and then hopefully I'll be able to ride 500+ miles a day with no pain. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Russell seats and they offer a money back guarantee so I figure I can't go wrong.
Good luck with whatever seat you decide to go with. |

I've pretty much decided to get a gel seat and give it a try. Reading some other threads it seems a lot of the wifes/girlfriends are really enjoying the gel seat. Now I just gotta find a good spot to order one.

Fitz, check out the sponsers of this forum Beartooth Kawasaki. They can get you the gel seat and as your a member you'll get the discount. I ordered some bling from them this winter and the price and service was fantastic.
