Default I'm such an idiot/USPS sucks

Made a one character typo in my shipping address for a windshield I bought from ebay. I check tracking info since it should have delivered yesterday afternoon.. of course they don't update the site until the evening. So, no package when I get home from work. I then proceed to check the tracking info... "Undeliverable... sending back to sender." Dangit! Ok, I'll call USPS.. wait, it's too late, they're closed. I'll just call first thing in the morning, no problem. No no.. too late, they already started sending it back. Nothing I can do.

I emailed the guy I bought it from and he almost immediately sent me a reply that he'll contact me when it gets it back. Likely I'll repay shipping costs, but it's better than buying a new windshield! Here's hoping I can type this time.

I feel very lucky that the guy I bought it from seems like a stand-up guy that won't screw me. I'm mostly irritated that USPS didn't give me a chance to correct it and instead returned an expensive item to someone. So I very easily could have been out the cost.

I know it's my fault for not triple checking my address, but come on...

That sucks. Sometimes there's such a thing as too efficient -or at least too quick.

USPS is the absolute worst! They never make an attempt at delivery, and instead I always get the little post card stating that they attempted but nobody was home.
After a recent ortho rehab, I was home all day every day. My girlfriend had to bring me food, and other friends ran errands for me, and still the stupid card.
My complaint is, since I'm paying for home delivery, I want home delivery.
I hope your wind screen comes back soon. When given a choice, I'll use Fed-Ex or UPS.

Confused. They never make an attempt at deliver, but they stop and put a card on your door? USPS will usually knock/ring door bell if someone needs to sign for the package. If Im not home, I'll leave a note on the door, telling them to leave the package on the porch or wherever.

Yup! That's right. They will leave a card with the regular mail carrier, and never come to my door. My complaints go unheard and are met with a lame response " you'll have to call the parcel service sir". Or, "we don't go upstairs to an apartment". Oh,, not on the door, it comes in my mail box.

our carrier is good at delivering packages, knows i work from home so will walk down the drive to attempt a delivery. our substitute driver won't even bother. I sat in the daylight basement working, looking out the window watched him drop off the mail, went out only to see a yellow slip saying he tried to deliver a package...BS!

I'm not so much mad at them that they didn't deliver it, how can I be?

I'm irritated that they *immediately* returned it to the sender instead of giving me a chance to realize it wasn't delivered, check the tracking info to see why, and call them. Instead it's instantly sent on a reverse trip.

I could even accept being required to take time off of work to go pick it up at the office. But come on... sent back the same day? What the heck?

UPS is best when ordering via mail. At least the shipper can call and fix the address if you notify them, for a $10 charge of course. It maybe be damaged, but it will get there. Sometimes the cheapest shipping method isn't.

Our mail person stinks. If a car is parked within 10' of our mailbox they won't deliver. We got a note one time from the PO stating that "it is dangerous for our carriers to put the vehicle in reverse." The same carrier does a 3 point turn in front of my house to get the other side of the street. I wish I could do that horrible at my job, get great benny's, and still have a job on Monday.

When it comes to materials bigger than a legal size envelope, I use Fed Ex or UPS. I also learned the hard way and promised myself...never again.

Hope you get your windshield soon. Regards.

You have little justification to be annoyed with the USPS, it wasn't their mistake.

my Post office carrier comes in my driveway and blows the horn. ( he does for other neighbors too ) If no answer, he leaves it with ny neighbor, because they arent allowed to leave it.where dogs are.

Have you ever met your carrier? Ya know, down here in the south , we re friendly people. A cold Coke on a hot day goes a long way !

Friendly here in the north too. A Christmas card with a tip works well.

You think you feel bad about a typo? This morning I was sending my mom a mother's day card, and I couldn't remember my address! Good grief. I'm really getting old.

Feel better now?

I deliver mail....it all depends on your carrier....half the people I work with I wouldn't hire to tie my shoe, but the other half are pretty good....the problem is you're one out of thousands being delivered to....Unless you get lucky and the person sorting your mail knows who you are, your mail is going to be returned if you have the wrong address on it (especially if it's a bigger office). My office is small, and we'd actually walk around and ask "Do you know so and so?", but that's not going to happen in a big office....you really can't be upset, if it would've gotten there it would've been a miracle....

Carlsnet....you probably just have a lazy carrier....some places you don't "have to" deliver upstairs or whatever, but they're pretty lazy if they don't....

There's no room at a post office to hang on to a bunch of mail that doesn't belong there....you're looking at it from your one perspective....but if you add your one package along with a bunch of other people's mail that did the same thing it'll add up to more than you think real quick....and then there's no way to keep it in any order because the address isn't correct.....you'd be amazed at how much mail is returned each day, or thrown away if it's third class.
