I believe that we would have heard a lot more about motorcycle safety if the majority of sportbike riders were crashing into other people or by themselves.

I think the cruiser community here would be offended if other people grouped them in with the Hell's Angels or any other HD biker gang. Or that person on the block that works third shift but blows down the little street with open baffles...

I just wanted to raise the issue to talk about the rider not the bike he rides.

Generalizations whether fact or fiction are BAD. If someone was to believe that sportbikes attract a certain type of individual, then they need to just say that and not generalize. The idea is that other people don't know exactly what you mean, so if you generalize then they will generalize your generalization and we go from bad to worse.

The HD Biker gangs, I think you mean the 1% 'one percenters'. I've seen some HD Biker Gangs that are warm and fuzzy, but are technically a gang.

Bikes and Guns have very little to do with the transaction, the moment we start placing blame on these (or rather the moment we started) was the day we began to loose our right and possibility of owning them. Just my thought, I have had a gun since I was a kid, and have never managed to shoot anybody, not even close, not even once. I've had a sportbike, no wheelies, no stoppies, no tricks, not even close, not even once. Was it becuase the guns don't fire when pointed at people? Was it becuase the bike would turn off when it sensed a stunt coming? Nope; I just chose not to, had I chose to the blaim would be on me, I chose not to, so the credit is on me.

I'm 24.. made the switch from my Vulcan 900 to a Ducati Monster 695, I ride the same I did before, but now I don't scrape frame on every other turn, heh.

I like riding the tight twisties. Yeah, I probably speed, but it's not excessive, I pass cops all the time and they never seem to look twice at me. On the interstates an in town, I ride very responsibly. Hey, I love my bike (and my life and the little money that I have). I also don't pass on a double yellow... most of the time. I won't lie, I've done it. The road's straight and the old lady in front of me is going 10 under the speed limit. To me it's more dangerous to grow angry and impatient behind someone driving entirely too slow than to just give it a quick twist of the throttle and it's all over. But I'm no different in my car and I was no different on my 900 in that aspect.

After that admission it makes me feel like a bit of a hypocrite, but I *hate* seeing the squids out and about. It actually makes me feel scared when I'm on my bike that they'll make someone mad enough with their crappy riding to take it out on me. I've never topped my bike out and I've never been on one wheel.

A co-worker of mine that doesn't ride much, went out and and bought a brand new GSX-R 750 "because his R6 just wasn't powerful enough". I rode with this guy once... and only once. He can't take turns at all, can't hold a line. He'd go into a turn pretty slow and just nail his throttle coming out of it to make himself feel like he turns well. But to his credit, at least he wasn't entering turns too fast....

Now I'm rambling, so I'll get back to work.
