That is what I was going to say.

Also, there is a slight possibility it has something to do with the relationship of ECU/ignition/transmission-position. I came up with this theory because on the V2K, like many other bikes, the timing is altered by what gear it is in. If the signal from the gear sensor thingy (or whatever changes the resistance of the signal to the ECU) is disrupted for some reason when you are in 2nd, it might be messing with the ECU and manifesting as what you are describing. I know that is a longshot but it is still a possibility.
Did you do the resistor mod? (If you don't know what I mean by this, you obviously didn't.)

No mod, have the wire but did not want to monkey with the bike in case something like this happened.

Also, Lord GT mentions his started in leans only, thats where I noticed mine first, but I believe only because this is when I hit the top end of second. Most of the time in a lean is the time I get on second. I dont think it had anything to do with the lean itself but I noticed it there because of how I use second on the V2K. It has progressed quickly into all the time thing. If I avoid the high end of second no problem at all. 50mph high end leans are great on my baby and do not want to give them up. The bike is in now and I will keep you updated. If any of you have the time and search for this problem please post anything you find here. I have found it twice and would like to see if any others are having the problem. I have searched and searched but I am a computer retard and have not found much. Thanks

I may have more than one problem. My other problem I mentioned is that my bike will keep up with 3-5 mph traffic with the clutch pulled in and coasting. It's like the clutch is not pulled in all the way. If I stop, all seems ok.

I was told this could be warped Clutch plates, the metal ones. This could happen from overheating the clutch. I can see this, if the plate is warped, then it's NOT Flat, and even though you pull in the clutch, the plate may be partially engaging the disc. You have to have flat discs & plates for the to separate correctly when you pull in the clutch.

And I have to admit, I was doing some pretty heavy launching a few months back, just to see what the V2K would do off the line in 1st and or 2nd. So I may have overheated my clutch and warped the plates.

Time will tell, and I don't know if it's related to the 2nd gear issue, but I kinda doubt it.

Can't wait to see what you find out SNAFU.

More to come.... but don't replace that clutch for a 2nd gear slip on V2K. It is not the problem.

Lightbulb Got your answer unfortunately

LordGT, I am a new poster but a long time viewer (almost 3 yrs now) of this site. I feel compelled to tell you my story about the 2nd gear jerk. I have an 05 V2K limited and I had the same symptoms you've discussed in your initial post. I thought too the belt was slipping, yet no teeth worn on either the pulley or the belt. My issue occurred at top end of 2nd gear with an instaneous torque drop and catch. I took it into the stealer...oops dealership to have 'em look at it. They took two weeks to do the initial evaluation completed. The Service Manager let me know the sad news...an engaging sprocket in the transmission was loosing engagement at high torque input due to partial engagement. The jerk occurred pretty consistently just short of redline in 2nd. They said it came out of the plant that way (partial engagement, trans mis-alignment). He told me that it would take removing and cracking open the engine/trans to get to the bad sprocket and that if I didn't address it now it would only get worse. I couldn't even promise me that the warranty would cover it. I only had 6k miles on the bike.

It took the Dealership 4 months to get the parts replaced and the bike back together (bike shifts a lot better). The cost of repair was $1850 + tax. It was covered under my warranty (I will always and forever by the extended warranty for my bikes and cars, more than paid for itself). If your bike is still under warranty I would take it back immediately to the dealership and get them to fix it. I hope this give you some insight and help.

Thanks for posting your experience, bigdogv2k. I'm glad you came out of the woodwork to give both these guys and whoever may have the same problem now or in the future a heads up!
