My bike 2008 VN 900 Custom. I hated the way the back fender stuck up so high off the rear tire, reminded me of my KX. The flow of the bike from front to back just didnt look right for me. I didnt want to do a lower kit because of scrapping problems I have read about in here. after staring at it night after night trying to figure out how to fix this i decided to go for it. After about 11 hours of working on it, i's finished and looks awesome. I will post pictures when I can find my camera because you have to see the pictures to understand what I did and see foryourself how it looks. The bike sits much lower in the back, the fender doesnt look all hunched up at the top, about 30 percent of the top of the rear tire is now sitting inside of the fender, everything flows nice. Because the fender sits lower and slopes down more I did have to do a little work to the latch part of the seat so it would snap into place. I was wondering what other types of rear fender mods have beeen done out there to the 900 custom and how they look? Cheers!

I was first looking at the shadow spirit 750 because the rear fender did look nicer than the vulcan's but a couple of guys mentioned that the shadows were a "girls bike" so thats like owning a stock suzuki 4X4 or a new volkswagen beetle. so final decision was the vulcan and simply put up with the way the fender was. I agree with your opinion about the fender, im glad you found a way to fix that.

Now, I will say that the 08 Shadow 750CD2 (or is it C2 (either way) really isn't the performer that it could be, due to the increase weight (over the 600 it replaced) and the addition of the shaft drive, the rear wheel power is only ever so slightly higher then the 600. |

Honda really screwed up with that bike by adding a shaft drive. I am sure it ride as smooth as butter, but man why would you want to sacrafice the power on something that is already under powered?
Only they know the answer to that one I suppose. |
