Default Referendum on Manhood

I mentioned in a previous post that I like to do Iron Butts. If I am to be totally honest, it makes me feel good, accomplished and tough. My riding buddy likes triple digit speed to get his testosterone levels up. Others may like the loud pipes, leather etc.

What punches your button when it comes to motorcycle manliness?

Don't need the pink pony...I love the 3 digit speeds, as well as long distance rides. Never thought much about the iron butt, as paying the fee and worrying about the documentation/etc for a pin/sticker to "prove" my calloused butt tolerence is a waste in my book. Grab some fellow riders and make the ride on your own, the memories and stories will still be there, and the money saved on the IB fee's can pay for a round or two at dinner.

Not knocking your desire to do the IB, just throwing in my perspective. The rides outlined for the IB are tough/challenging rides, I just don't see the point in needing to prove my riding to others by wearing a pin/patch or placing a sticker on the scoot.

Just my $.02

There is just something about the freedom of it all. Not sure if that is a manly thing but if it's not, I don't care as I still get a rush throwing a leg over the seat and hitting that start button.

I like just riding. I always feel invigorated when I get back home from even a short ride through Red Rock Canyon. I would like to try one of those Iron Butt rides, but it is not possible right now.

Just riding is makes me feel great.

You see more on a bike than riding in a cage. It is a bit like the old west, like ridden a horse. In 1988 I road a bike through Yellowstone while it was burning (a lighting strike, remember?) it was surreal an experience I'll never forget and riding through on a bike made all the difference. Plus I like leaning through the turns, doesn't have to be fast just leaning. Someone said that riding a motorcycle is the closest a human can get to flying on the ground. I like that.

i feel manly riding down the high street slowly, letting everyone admire my aggressive body position on the cruiser, while I check out my reflection in the shop windows... My bulging muscles just emphasising my masculinity as i cruise down the street for everyone to admire.

...yeah, i'm sooo freakin cool.
All the girls stare in awe as i ride past, and i just know that they wanna come for a ride with me..

that makes me feel sooo manly.
Grrrrr. I'm a real man with a big, shiny, loud bike between my thighs.

i just thought i'd share a small slice of my every day thought processes with y'all
... and that's me on a modest day!!

I think ridin' the twisties at a fast clip is what separates the men from the boys! At least, that's where I get my adrenaline rush!

Passing every male poser, especially the sporties!

Grinds their hineys to know they got passed by an old, fat woman on a 30 year old bike!

Topping a 10,000' pass and being able to see for 100 miles. Yertle-the-Turtle complex.

Triple digit speeds don't interest me anymore. I just like cruising around and enjoying the freedom of the bike. Like Van's V2K said, you just see so much more on a bike....I enjoy my ride to work more, especially this time of year when the smell of the honeysuckle blossoms are in the air. You don't get to experience that when you're riding in a car. I would like to try one of the iron butt rides but haven't yet. They are having an "iron azz" ride in June that I'm thinking about....just a 500 mile Saturday run that should give me a good idea wheather or not I want to try an iron butt event. But like Scott said, the pin thing doesn't really matter to me....I'd rather just get a few of the guys together and do it. If I know I did it, that's really all that matters to me. Save the money and buy some chrome...
