Default Corbin seats? Good or bad

I would like to hear from anyone who has a Corbin seat.

I am looking at the dual setup for my Nomad. I purchased a Mustang for my 800 and it was better than stock but after about 150 miles it would get uncomfortable. I am looking at spending about 800 bucks with the backrest and I don't want to waste my money

    Thanks for your help.

I had a gunfighter on my 800b and loved it. I could easily do 4-6 hours in the saddle without any discomfort. I never went more then 6 hours but I have every bit of confidence it would still feel great at the end of the day.

i have a corbin seat and has the two back rests,i found that the distance between the rest is very very small, your partner will have to have a very thin butt to fit on it,
also i found the seat made me sit back about 50mils from the standard seat and was very hard, just had some softer foam installed and its a little better . Richard

C.P. I've got the corbin on my 800 an I like it . But theres gonna be a big difference between my $200 gunfighter an the $800 your thinking about spending so it would be something to think about. With that said corbin will do some mods to the foam for free the first yr if you have an issue with comfort. You can even call ahead an make an appointment an ride to mcallister an they'll make the seat while you wait, let you try it out an make any mods to it that you think would help in the comfort dept. I think you need to make a rode trip to Califorina! thats my recommendation.

I put a Corbin dual on my Meanie after trying the Mustang. I found the backrest part of the Mustang was too straight for me. The Corbin has a much better contour for this rider's half moons. A typical Corbin will be stiff at first, but will soften over time.

I've also had Corbin saddles on 3 Beemers and a Yamaha. I averaged 15k a year on the Beemers.

I have a Corbin gunfighter on my 800A and just love it. I haven't spent a lot of time in the saddle yet but I will this summer and can't imagine getting anywhere near tired of riding on it. It is firm, but I think that's better that way. Firm doesn't equate to uncomfortable.

    CP,

I have a Corbin Seat. I struggled with the Mustang versus Corbin, since there's some difference in price. I bought the Corbin for the following reasons:
    1. It is leather. Not pleather, not naugahyde. I like leather.
    2. Corbin has an impeccable reputation in teh industry, just like Mustang, but they are a high-end product.
    3. It is way cooler than the Mustang (imho).

They say that the Corbin feel a little harder when you first get it, but it breaks in and feels much better after a few hundred miles. They are right. Mine has about 1000 miles on it nd it is now broken in. My posterior loves it. I will ride on nothing else ever. Even if I sell the Nomad, my next bike will have a Corbin.

Did I mention that it is way cooler than anything else I've seen?

I got mine at discountcycleparts.com. I got it for about 100 bucks less than anyone else. It's still more expensive than the Mustang, though. I got the solo seat ant the passenger pillion, but I think the Gunfighter is pretty good, too (although it's the wrong seat for the Nomad). See pics.

By the way, it is way cooler and way more comfortable than anything else I've seen.

So stop wringing your hands and buy it.

    Default Corbin

I have a corbin on my nomad and love it.
Had the Kaw F/S rider backrest ( better for the wife! )
sent to corbin to stiched studded and piped to match. They are very easy to deal with.
Check out the pics at criser customizing at the link below.

The Corbins look and feel like they are just higher quality. The Corbin's are much more "dense" of a seat...I like them because I have short legs and I need all the room to the ground I can get...
The largest reason I would buy a Corbin (other than quality) is that it makes me feel "in to the bike"... instead of "on top of it"...

Right! I forgot to mention that piece - the Corbin lets me sit almost 3 inches lower, with corresponding change in ctr of gravity, handling, etc. You're a part of the bike, as roadking4me says....

    Thanks, man.....

We've been having an argument around here - Ispeed says his black Nad is the fastest. But it's not. Mine is.

But don't tell him - hate to destroy his sense of self, y'know.

I'd have to go with you also, just something about the various shades of red, as my 1600 is also, but I wont tell him either, as he is coming out this way in July, and he doesnt need to develop a slow complex.................hehehehehe
