900 custom helmet hook

Ok i thought i would throw this question out there cuz i keep forgettin bout it. I usually like wearing my half helmet most of the time but on occasion up here in canada once and a while when we pull the ol bike out of the igloo it sometimes is a tad chilly so thats when i break out the full face helmet. I discovered that i cant use the helmet hook on my bike with the full face helmet. Any solutions out there? I thought of some sort of cable extension where the connection can be hidden under the seat where the hook is but if anyone out there came out with a better idea i'd love to hear bout it.

i have used the helmet lock on my classic with my FF. i believe the locks are the same. my strap might be longer, i dont know, but i am able to use it.
I know there was a tube running along the tab that i had to, hmm, cant remember if it was routed under it and i had to route over it, but i did change where that tube was routed in order to use the helmet lock.

my helmet hook works fine with my full face Shoei.

what kind of helmet strap do you have? Does it fasten like a belt buckle, or do you have 2 rings you have to thread a strap through??

Mine has the rings and they fit perfectly over the hook, keeping the helmet snug to the side of the bike.

in short, yeah.

But if it saves me carrying the helmet around with me then i don't mind too much. I only use it while I'm out and if it's gonna be dry. I sometimes leave my gloves inside the helmet too

yep my FF goes on no prob, the bottom of the helmet is against the bike and the D-ring is around the lock, works perfectly.

I can't get my seat to unlock so I can't use mine. Once in a while, no problem. But then a real issue getting it to unlock. I don't use it since I don't want to be in a situation where I lock the helmet and I can't get the seat to unlock to use it again. I actually use a cable lock to lock up my helmet.

You have to push down on the rear end of the seat as you turn the key to pop the seat up.

Would someone please post a set of pics of using the helmet hook...especially with an FF helmet? I'd really like to utilize it but I'm having a "blonde" moment and can't figure it out. I know, it certainly seems like a no-brainer so I guess no-brainer fits me well for this one...

this is how it looks when it's secured. Am at the office at the moment and the bike's at home, so won't be able to get a pic with the seat off for a good few hours.

you can also change the grips and get a lock that mounts on the ends
or move someplace where they don't steal

I am able to just strap mine on my back rest. I too ride with a 1/4 in the day (~100 deg) and a FF at night (~50deg) on the way home.

Here's the top view, both with and without the seat. You can see how short the strap is on my helmet, and it fits. I'd think that you'd have to have a VERY short strap, or no D rings to not be able to use the hook.

I was just about to ask where all your wires are... then i saw you've put them under the plastic unit where the battery is.

I hate removing the seat also. I'd love an alternative, but all I can find is the ISO endcaps or the license plate backing with lock. Not real keen on either.

Just as I suspected, my bike, bought from a first owner but with less than 600 miles on it, is missing the helmet hook, tool kit holder and the tool kit. The first owner put a new battery in and whoever put it in must have forgotten to put the hook, holder and tools back in...bummer. I'll have to replace the hook anyway. Thanks for the pic.

Guess I'm not as "blonde" as I thought...
