Hi all, I'm hoping that someone on the forum has already gone down this road...
I am looking for a reliable motorcycle mount for my newly aquired (via Father's Day gift) Garmin Nuvi 200 GPS. I searched on-line and wasn't impressed with the "stock" offering, but wasn't too sure of the aftermarket mounts either. They both still just "clip" the GPS onto a clamp style mount. (The clamp style doesn't bother me, it's the "clip" mount of the whole GPS that scares me - something about a $200 GPS being held up by small plastic nubs.... Thanks in advance for any info and Happy Trails! ![]() |

I got one as well as a birthday/fathers day gift. My wife got me the Garmin 550 Zumo. It came with mounts by "Ram", which everyone says are top of the line for mounting all kinds of things to your bike. I'd do a search on "ram mounts" and look at what they have. I agree with your thought that you want some security for your new little toy. Having some expensive piece of electronics flip out into the air with the slightest bump is something I don't want to even imagine.
Good luck

The RAM mounts, at least for the Nuvi660, are a kind of "dual" clip.
The tray is the primary mount, but IF the GPS pops out of the tray, it is still clipped into the stock power adapter and mount, which is threaded through the tray, so it is unlikely that the unit will go bouncing down the road. But my 660 has never some close to popping out of the tray.
