I know many folks had a three day weekend and weather has been nice. Where did you go on your bike? Pics would be good too!
I didn't get any pics, but I went on a good 140mile ride this morning with a few friends. It was out through the country roads. Halfway we found a diner and had a good lunch/breakfast and then finished up. It was very relaxing.. it renews you! I hope all you had a great Independence day. We live in an awesome country!! |

I posted earlier about my ride from Tucson to the coast of California and back home. I will not bore you with the details but it was a great ride. I hope to do another before the weekend is over.

Until I get a different seat for my 900 Classic, I'll not be doing long rides but I did pass up my turn off the highway on the way back form town yesterday and kept going to a burger place 40 miles down the road just cuz I could. Plus with a real short riding season up here, you have to cram in as mush as you can when you can.
It IS a great country! |

Didnt' go too far, but went up to Atlantic Beach and then to Beaufort where they had a small parade and then came home. Only about 85 miles.

On Friday, my brother and I met my wife and her family at the cabin in Osakis, MN on their last night - surprised my kids - did some fishing, fireworks, bonfire, had a good time. At checkout on Saturday, my brother and I took off for Hinkley - Five hours later (including a missed turn that added 40 miles) we arrived and ate lunch - after lunch we headed for home - another 80 miles - all in all we logged just over 300 miles in fantastic weather - a great days ride. My first "long" day on the bike and I learned something - I want a few things: detachable windshield; hiway pegs, and backrest. (side-note: changing the sprockets this spring was a really great mod - my 800B rides superb!)

A buddy an I went to a biker bar called Poopys in Savanah IL today. It was a 248 mile round trip for us. This is the second longest ride I have been on so far. He has a 750 Nighthawk and I with my 900 custom. He complained about his *** and legs the whole time. I on the other hand was completely comfortable with my stock seat and ISO grips! We were both in 5th at around 75 when we went side by side and gunned them. My 900 smoked his wanna be crotch rocket.

Went out Friday morning at about 10:15 to meet up with a friend. We headed north into the least populated part of North Dallas we can find. All country roads and very few vehicles. We didn't take any pics, so I'm providing links.
Started off just east of Denton, TX; headed up to Lake Ray Roberts and across the dam towards Sanger. Headed back across the dam a bit later and on to lunch at Clark's Outpost Barbeque in Tioga, TX - birthplace of Gene Autry. Lots of weekend warriors there on their Harley's (one guy even had his wife following him in the Miata - with the top up). Then we headed out toward Gunter, TX then down into Frisco, TX where we parted ways and headed back home. About 130 miles over 3.5 hours including lunch. Not a long ride, but fun and relaxing. It's been a pretty sweet weekend so far even with the heat. Last edited by tomdenise : 07-06-2008 at 12:51 AM. |

I'll get to this one in about a week. Worked a couple of double-shifts over the 4th weekend. But to compensate, my next weekend ride is in Europe!!!

I did a nice cruise around Lake Okeechobee, Florida. The weather was perfect....except a little warm. Left the jacket home for this ride. Even though I have a First Gear Mesh jacket, it still is not comfortable in this heat! Nice open roads with very little traffic.
Today I'm going up to the Vero Beach area along A1A. Another nice ride......... Jim |

I'm really just glad I survived the 4th with all of my fingers....though I did have a few short fuse close calls. Oh but I did accidently shoot a Moon Rocket into my neighbors garage...opps!

I needed to get a tire kit and test my GPS and camera mount I made from cutting board so I took an hour and a half to go to the Auto Parts store that is about 10 minutes away. There I bought that slim Slime unit and a bottle of slime just in case and came home. Gonna wash the bike and make sure everythings ready because Thursday I'm doing this:
Yes, it's my Iron Butt ride up Pikes Peak. Been planning it for quite some time (wanted to do it since my family went up it when I was 4) and have things set ready to go. It's just under 600 miles to not counting the trip up and down so depending on conditions and the time I'll either head back home Thursday or head up to Mt. Evans then hit the KOA in Goodland, KS for a quick nap and home for a 1500 mile ride instead of the 1000 mile one. At the least I'll hopefully get up the mountain on a motorcycle. When I was 4 my Mother drove up. We were all happy my Father drove down though I don't think Mom ever forgave anyone for that. If any of you want to pay homage to the Original Lead Foot I can tell you where the urn is. Dad was constantly telling her the race was the week before so there was no way she could win it, didn't slow her down much.
