Default What pipes make most power? (900C)

I am on the brink of ordering intake/tuner/exhaust for my 08 900custom. I care most about power, then sound, then looks.

Ive been doing a lot of reading/searching but havent found a concrete answer. The 2 into 1 pipes make the most power and midrange? Or is it the dragsters that make the most HP but lose the most tq?

Honestly the dragsters are the look im after, but i dont want to be obnxiously loud. Ive read 2-1 sound good, but im not a big fan of the looks. Ill compromise though if 2-1 have best power and sound one other guy posted 60whp with 2-1's on a 900c

Im thinking about either a true 2 into 1 or the cobra duals with the crossover if they actually make some power. I dont want to spend $500 on exhaust if i only gain 1-2hp.

In order to see any significant HP gains you'll have to modify the intake, exhaust and add a fuel control system (PC III, Cobra FI, etc..) You're looking at about $1000 for those modifications.

Most of the 2-2 pipes will give you some HP benefit at the top end, but will compromise some torque. A few of the 2-2 pipes that have a crossover chamber claim some additional torque as well as the +HP. I think the 2-1 pipes offer the best of both, but like you, I don't care for the look of those.

Time to compromise, the 2-1 exhaust will in most cases give you the best boost in power. A good 2-1, PCIII and a high flow intake will probably net you between 8-12% gain. You're not going to get 110 HP out of the 900 with bolt on mods but it's a good place to start.

Ive been watching that dyno thread pretty close. the most power ive seen so far from a 900C with 2 into 1, PCIII, and intake. he made 60whp/61tq which is pretty impressive from a 900.

The other people with your typical cobra pipes/FI2000R/ intake are making 51-53whp. then one guy with just a baron bak is making 48whp. if all im getting is about 3whp from exhaust its not worth it to me, but if a 2 into 1 can net me another 7+ then thats worth it.

I think im going to get the baron and see if that holds me over for a bit. Id really like to hear some exhaust in person before I make a final decision on the exhaust.

Supposedly, the Cobra duals (not the dragster) have a crossover chamber that "allegedly" gives the same effect as a 2-1 setup. The 60hp dyno setup was done using the Roadhouse 2-1 exhaust, which, incidentally, is my favorite sounding exhaust of them all.

If you want real power, get another bike. No matter what you do, 60 HP and 60 torque isn't very exciting. The only other option is overhauling the internals. But it's not worth the effort. Go get a Rocket III cruiser.

Plus I don't even think you will notice a diff in power between diff pipes (I don't believe too much in computer dynos). If I feel it then I know there is more power.
The sound is the only thing you will hear in diff. I added pipes and I don't feel any increased in power. Of course, no PCIII yet or intake. I'm waiting for the big brown truck to deliver my PCIII!!!

if u want more power, take ur bike to the dyno and have them map out each cylinder. i recommend PCIII, BAK intake , and V&H slashcuts or cobra shorts.

After owning a hayabusa even a rocket 3 would be slow to me. Im not looking to blow away v-rods or anything I just want to beat my friends that have suzuki m50's and harley 883's. Its just hard for me to pay $500 and only get sound. I want power and sound to get my money's worth
