Default I am embarassed to ask this

Two questions. I looked through my owners manual and service manual and can't find this.

1. How do I replace the headlight bulb on the 900?

2. What is the maintenance schedule? I change the oil every 3,000 miles but I wanted to know when I should get other service.

DebbieW, I have not replaced my headlight bulb but when I installed my COBRA lights opening the bucket was easy and straightforward. I think there are at least 1 or 2 philips screw holding the headlight bucket. Remove those screws and the bucket will open (easily pry the sides of the headlight housing with a small screwdriver using a cloth on the tips in order not to scratch the chrome).

As for the maintenance schedule, your owner's manual has all the pertinent information. Your shop of choice can also be your best source of advise when it comes to the upkeep and maintaining your ride in top shape.

there are 2 screws on the bottom of the light housing. Don't mix these screws up with the adjustment screws near them. Hopefully you have the Motorcycle Owners Manual or MOM available. You can look at the front of the book to see where these screws are and compare to your bike. As for the maint sched just look towards the back of your MOM for that if all else fails... call your local, reputable dealership... they can help and tell you over the phone usually on something simple like that. They are probably too busy to insist you come down for them to fix it. Also, if that doesn't work you will find some excellent info at your local bike parts store. Here in Reno we have a place called Street Rider. All they do is sell motorcycle stuff and they are very knowledgeable. Go to your local shop, buy your lamps and learn from their experiences. it's usually a fun trip

oh and btw... not a silly question! Don't be embarrassed!!

Thanks to all. I did finally find the maintenance schedule in the owners manual. Decided to open my eyes.

Deb - Open and download the Gadget website. He is the slap daddy Guru of our favorite bike. You'll find a world of info there. Put it in favorites, or print the whole thing.
