Well, well, looks like the UJM is slowly making a comeback, courtesy of Triumph this time. I'll bet that thing goes like stink (in sales and) on the road. Nothing extra, just a big solid Motorcycle with a couple of nods to the Cruiser Crowd (console speedo and belt drive) I'd be interested in taking a test ride.

I like the openness of the engine compartment and the symmetry of the exhaust. Can I have that in a standard frame please?????

Not my cup of tea. And the headlight looks completely out of place for some reason!

Looks like they are finally going to a belt drive. Put that on some of their other bikes and I might be interested. BMW F800ST is the only sport touring bike under 1000cc that doesn't use a chain.

Looks like a Honda VTX1300C with a parallel twin to me.
![]() I saw the spy pics of the prototype last year and they looked pretty much like this production T-bird, but yet I was hoping for something more intriguing. Where is the beautiful design of the Boneville engine, the classic lines from the America, the hot rod approach of the Speedmaster or the grotesque appearance of the Rocket III? This is just plain. And Triumph discontinued their tripple 900 Thunderbird just a few years ago which had nothing in common with this 1600. I really think they should have come up with another name for it. That's my most personal verdict and I say it because I love Triumphs. Used to own a 2001 Legend 900, the sister model to the previous Thunderbird.

After having a string of beezers and trumps I am a huge parallel twin fan. I can assure you that an upright parallel twin does not qualify a machine as a cheap beginner bike. I reckon you could try a test ride or something and see what you think

Too cruiser-ish to call a Thunderbird. They've gone the way of all the Japanese makers, trying to look like a 'classic-american-motorcycle'. Used to be able to recognize a Triumph as nothing other than a Triumph. Styling-wise, it's just a clone of a whole host of other modern cruisers.
Bet that motor is wicked though!

I think I would like it better with the double headlight like from the Rocket III...
I like the looks of the V-Twin engine filling the space, and I am pretty sure I would miss the sound of a loud V-Twin... I would also bet the performance is going to be pretty good! |

same width as those on the FXSTC and FXDWG. That, in turn, makes the headlight look too small. A larger, more traditional looking headlight positioned closer to the triple trees would look much better IMO. I'd also look into replacing the VTX1300C fenders with something else that has more of a Britbike flavor. Here's an example of how folks could customize the Thunderbird based on older britbikes: ![]() ![]()
