Thank you! Have to say it does ride very nice even nicer than I expected. The handling, braking and smooth shifting tranny is what is making the biggest impression on me so far. We have a lot of mountain roads here so it should be a kick!

Surely there must be a nice seat available for the Meanie which keeps the beautiful lines of the bike but provides more comfort for your wife... ? Kinda like the Mustang Daytripper for the Custom... looks great and both pads are comfy... Is your son on this forum?? I wanna see his Meanie now you've described it!! |

I'm hoping there will be a good seat too. I'll put it on when she rides and take it off when not. She won't be comfy without a backrest but not sure I'll put one on just yet. I'll check out Mustang, Corbin, Saddlemen and others.
He is not on the Forum but I've encouraged him to do so. I can email you a couple pics of his bike if you'd like however. One thing I was amazed at was when we fired up the bike with the V&H Bigshots. They were loud! We had to look twice to see if the baffles were in them. They were! Wow, it was much louder than my '03 1600 Classic with the same pipes.

get him to sign up or post some of the pics in a thread for all to see
My cobra's are loud... there is a baffle but i don't think it does much A different seat is a good idea, maybe get one with backrests which you can take off when you don't need it. I'm sure there's something out there for you. |

I made this with $15 in material. Wive loves it. She only rides every once in awhile. I have since switched to a Corbin "Young Guns" seat. The pad fits that seat too. I really like it.

Here's my bike with the Corbin seat. I'm partial to Red too. I picked mine up last November. Bought the first 08 to hit the area. Didn't take long to make it my own. I find the Mean Streak is light and sporty. It's comfortable enough for day and overnight trips. The brakes are the best. With the big three mods it really goes.

Wow, Guys! Thank you all so much for your comments and suggestions. Looks like there is hope on the seating after all. I'll have to get my son to join the forum and post some of his pics. Just got back in from a ride up the canyon here and to say the least, I am very impressed with the nimbleness and sporty feel of the bike. Very pleased with it so far.

Congrats on the new scoot! I'm not sure I could pick between my V2K and the Meanie, so they'll both be around for some time. I've got a Danny Gray Plain Raven seat on my Meanie and I like it alot. It's definitely not for 2-up riding though.
One of the first things I did with my Meanie was to get some mirror extenders because all I could see in them were my elbows. Then came the forward controls and then the exhaust, seat, intake/PCIII and VTX shocks. The VTX shocks are still in a trial state as I can scrape the Jug Huggers on right turns which causes me to cringe at the thought of scraping $500+ pipes. |

Best to NOT try to set up the meanie for comfortable 2 up cruising unless your passenger is a midget. I spent a year turning my meanie into a 2 up bike (mustang dual tour seat, various passenger peg extensions, space for her junk to go along, etc.) and in the end it ruined the looks (imo) and the rear seat was still too cramped. Its not just a matter of the seat, but leg room and seat room for the passenger, as well as the baggage for the 'stuff" that many passengers want to carry. I finally gave up and traded up for a Roadliner.
Better to dedicate it to solo riding and the occasional shorter ride with a passenger and buy a two up machine. I would love to have my liner for trips and my meanie back for cruising around town or solo day trips.

Well... Unfortunately I have to agree a bit with meangreen. If you're going to have a passenger for more than 100 - 200 mile jaunts, I don't think you can do anything to the Meanie to make it comfy for the passenger. I'm lucky (?) that my wife doesn't like longer rides, and for daily runs with her on the back the Mustang does a good enough job.
Just another reason to have an additional horse in the stable... ![]()

I think i have changed my mind after seeing your pics. That bike is a beaut.
I and my wife together do not weight 270 lbs so putting a Mustang Tourer seat on will do just fine for us. I went an looked at a meanie and i fit very well. I like better than a 1500 and does not feel so big. Hopefully by 2009

Congrats on the new bike! Nice looking, but how could you leave "our little family". After all that we; mostly you and Myron did, to get the pulleys !! Man, it's almost like a divorce
. Good luck with the Meanie, Bob. Does it make it easier on your elbow, since you don't have as much weight to throw around? jeffjohn41 |

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions on two-up, seats, mirror extensions, pipes, etc. Most likely this bike will be just for me and to be honest, I'm waiting to see what the '09 2K's are like. Not ruling out a Nomad either right now. I'm very excited about having shaft drive right now! Had three great years with the 2K and then it just went bad on me. Loved that bike more than any other I've ever had too. The soul of that bike will live on however as I am sending parts all over the place to other 2K's. This was a good lesson to me in extended warranties. If I had one, the bike would have never been traded but was looking at a very expensive repair likely to be more than the trade cost of only $1,283 out the door. You all have some gorgeous rides too and thanks again for sharing ideas, input and advice. It all helps very much!
Jeff: The arm is doing much better and getting feeling back in those last two fingers. It's been quite the year so far and today I had an MRI on my other elbow as it looks like I tore a suppinator muscle and a bicep tendon but we'll know more on Monday when I meet with the doc. They shoot horses don't they???!!! Don't get old guys, just keep fighting it all the way. Anyway have a great weekend Jeff. I'm still around and already missing that Limited. One day soon my guess is we'll have something the wife and I can ride comfortably on. Take care!

Have never, ever been to Utah. Three of us from CA, ID & AZ are talking
about meeting in Ely, NV that first night then riding out to Cedar City as our base camp for Hwy 12 and the other killer roads out there. Fall or Spring seem to be the best months for that though. Will only have a couple of days to spare which limits our options.

you will love the way the meanie handles but it won't be as comfy. the mustang seat helps and i put diff. bars on to reduce my forward lean. But i do love the way it rides. i have 34km i on mine ita a great bike. i am looking at full dressed bikes for my next one maybe hde maybe sport tour , i just don't know yet.

Bob, Oh Bob, Oh Bob. Anything to get three pages of posts! Not bad, for a small bike.
