I didn't just want you to take it at my word so I explained the method so you could see/understand for yourself.

Sometimes nothing is more irritating that when someone says it's that way but you want to know it's that way.

As far as I understand for cars (should be the same), can be on while on the parking lot or display but must be OFF to drive ont he street. You see people driving with them on sometimes, but is a matter of a cop wanting to give you a hard time. Like the tint thing, some guys get away with it, but if the cop is in a bad mood, he can stop you.

All the info you might want : FL DMV Statutes

Re BLUE lights : NO BLUE

PS, while looking, found this :

"316.2024 Coasting prohibited.--The driver of any motor vehicle, when traveling upon a downgrade, shall not coast with the gears or transmission of such vehicle in neutral or the clutch disengaged. A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a moving violation as provided in chapter 318. "

That's just common sense... I'm not sure why you'd want to roll down a hill without being in gear? How dangerous do you wanna be?? Rolling down a hill without proper control of the vehicle?!?!

Just take your foot off the gas...

So, going down a hill pushing in your clutch and applying brakes is illegal?

I drive a stick shift car for many years and I don't break with the engine all the time. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Per this witting when I don't I am committing an illegal act. Seems silly to me to make a law about this.

And notice that according to this, on a downhill, "friction zone" would be almost illegal... "... or the clutch disengaged"

riding at any time while 'coasting' is inappropriate. If rolling down a hill and the car is in neutral or if you've got the clutch engaged then the engine and vehicle aren't under your control... If you're not in control of your vehicle then it's reckless driving.

i don't know what "friction zone" is...

you can engine brake. because the engine is slowing the vehicle and you have the option to accelerate in a moment's notice if need be, and you'll no doubt have your foot covering the brake pedal.

You just can't roll it down the hill with the clutch pedal pushed down or the gear stick in neutral. I'm not sure why you'd want to, aside from "reducing engine wear" ... which is a silly excuse in my humble opinion

I love the look of those light up plate holders. Too bad they're illegal in the UK (and wouldn't fit our plates either) ... it really lights up the rear end.

What LED kit did you use for the rest of your bike?? I used a tripod on a work bench and set it to 2 second delay so my finger pushing the button wouldn't shake the camera...

Thanks! I don't have a tripod, but I could find something to set it on and use the timer idea! Unfortunatly it's been raining here in GA for the last 6 hours or so.....bummer. The lights that I picked up are a pod design from street FX they come with 2 bar LED setups and 6 pods of 8 led's each. REALLY easy to install and I mounted the switch under the tank. I picked 'em up for 49.95 from American Classic Motors on E-bay with Free shipping and no tax. I saw them at the dealer, but they wanted nearly $90 for them. I thought they were crazy! The way I look at all of this is the better I can be seen at night, the less chance I have of getting run over!
Thanks for the great pic of your ride!

ha, that's exactly the same kit that i got, and for about $50 off ebay too!
i saw a shop here in the UK the other day that wanted £50 ($100) for them.

Yeah, just set the camera on something solid so it doesn't move. I love the extra visibility, and as far as i've read and researched, there's nothing illegal about LEDs... unsure about neon though.

ride safe.

Thanks Steve!
BTW I've been to London twice as a tourist and LOVED it! I bet riding in the roundabouts makes it a little more interesting though....LOL

haha, riding the roundabouts is the best bit other than the twisty country lanes. I've gotta be more careful on roundabouts now with my Cobras... they tend to drag around the same time my pegs do

Coasting downhill is probably against the vehicle code in all states since you are not in control of the vehicle. While driving a USMC M-54 (5 ton Truck) from 29 Palms, Ca. back to Camp Pendleton in the late 70s I lost my brakes. The truck accelerated down the mountain until the tranny sounded like a jet engine and the speedometer was pegged at the max which I seem to recall was 70 mph (we were going much faster than that). At some point it could not handle the speed and it popped out of gear so I was freewheeling the rest of the way to the bottom. I have no idea how fast I was going but I had to use all lanes to keep from going over the cliff or into the side of the mountain, the trailer full of several hundred thousand dollars worth of radio encryption gear I was pulling was bouncing from one side to the other and airborne half the time, and the troops in the back of the truck were screaming bloody murder as they were bounced all over the place. Luckily there wasn't much traffic and once the road leveled out I was able to get it back into gear and roll to a stop. I had to wait almost 10 full minutes for the rest of the convoy to catch up. Fortunately we all survived with no major injuries or serious damage.

Regarding the lights, they look cool but many states have laws against anything other than red or amber (turn signals only) to the rear and white and amber lights to the front. Check the Vehicle Code for your state before spending any money on lights.

About the Wagner, I read on another forum that it is for off-road use only and is not approved by the DOT. Is this bulb legal to use?

As that old saying goes. "Everything's legal, till you get caught."

Probably because of the cheap plastic housings used in most cages. Our bikes (at least the 900, and most others) have a metal housing so heat is a non-issue.
