Debaffled stock pipes, sound as good as most and didn't cost anything but some time.

Cruzers are loud? I thought they were supposed to be the mellowest of pipes. I'd prefer a little more rumble on mine, but not too much. I was eyeing the Cruzers. May have to just leave the stock.

Debaffle them stocks, you'll love it. Not too loud, nice deep rumble at idle, nice growl when you twist the wick.

I thought the same thing, going by the ad description. There is no way to describe them other than as being very LOUD. Frankly, I don't see how straight pipes could be any louder. Do they sound good? Yes. And, they are attractive, but they are LOUD. I wish V&H would offer baffles, or some other mod, that would make them half as loud. I could live with that. I am amazed at how good the engine sounds while idling. That is something I did not expect. However, driving down the road, I realized that if I didn't start wearing ear protection, my hearing was going to degrade even further than it is now. I'm not bagging on V&H. I just wish they offered these pipes with a similar sound (tone), but at a lower volume. Or, offered optional baffles to quiet them down. Others have stated that they consider the Cruzers perfect as they are. |

Hi all... im new to the forums... I just got my 2000 vulcan drifter 800 today.
I love the bike... just a few questions on some things before i run out and grab a floor manual. I noticed the front brake lever does not activate the rear light but the floor pedel does.... where shall i start? Can somebody explain "PRI" on the gas valve? And where the heck is off... why is there no off? I think thats it for now... other then these two items the bike is great... only 1500 miles and i got it pretty darn cheap Kenny |

PRI is for Prime. You only use it when you run out of gas or want to drain the tank. the valve is a vacuum operated and only works when the engine is running unless you have it on PRI which you should use since you will run out every drop with no reserve. Comprende? or did I confuse you more......
As for the rear light? check the brake switch. Mine was bad when I got my 800. Dang near $30 for a little plastic and wire whatzit.... Enjoy your 800.

Hello All,
I have a 2000 Vulcan 800 Classic with Kawasaki Foot boards (the foot boards have no 'tilt' capability). I'm finding that when I wear boots that there isn't enough room between the foot board and the pedal for the boot to fit properly. Do I simply have to adjust the Tie Rod to raise the pedal? If not, what all needs to be done to give me more room between the pedal and the foot board? Thank you very much for your help, Daniel |

Hello All,
First of all, I want to thank everyone for the valuable information that they share. I have found this users group to be very friendly and helpful. My question is: Last night riding home ('00 Vulcan 800 Classic) was a bit on the cool side (lower 60s upper 50s). I noticed that my throttle would stick and not snap back when released (I think the bike would of had time to warm up driving at highway speeds). The throttle was a bit hard to turn as well. Is this normal in colder conditions or do I need to adjust my throttle cable? (I haven't had any problems while riding in warmer conditions). Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and safe riding, MotorcyclMadMan |
