HEY, but thanks for trying to help

Default F & S sissy bar

I recently purchased a 2003 Vulcan 800 Classic. It came with the sissy bar already and I am expecting a set of saddlebags this weekend. On the fender where the bracket is attached there is a bolt as well as a post to attach bungee cord hooks. My question is how to get the post off without damaging it as I hope to be able to still use it. Here is a picture of what it looks like.

Is it bolted on from the inside of the fender?

It doesn't look like it. I can see down into the space between the fender and the bracket and there is no bolt there as far as I can see.

See if that center part is just a button that pops off...it may be hiding an allen bolt underneath.

Thats what I thought but it doesn't look like it. I was digging around the center part with my finger and could't find any spaces, I thought about using a thin screwdriver but didn't want to damage anything if it will not come out.

Welcome aboard diver!

I've never seen a thing like that... it's like the mounting pin for an easy bracket or something. But it's in a threaded hole, so it HAS to be threaded! Try getting onto it with a pair of non-marring pliers, like Robogrips with the rubber coverings on them, or a pair of pliers with a couple layers of bicycle tube rubber and then unscrewing it...

I know the feeling.. If Donkey is having a bad day too, have him cuddle up with Matilda.

diver, use a small sharp object, like a nail file or something, and try to pry it up from the bottom edge. If its a cap, its probably plastic, so it should pop off easily.

Jeff - I drilled holes in my back fender tonight!

It's chromed plastic and you'll need a knife or very small screwdriver to pop it out. It's not hard to get out and you won't bugger it up as easily as you might think.
There's an allen bolt under it, but I forget the size.
