Changing the chain and rear sprocket would elevate this project into something that I don't think I could handle myself, that is why I considered only changing the front sprocket.

Like I said, maybe I should just wait on this entire thing.

Going from a 17t to an 18t I wouldn't worry about. Get the rear sprocket later... when your chain wears out.

Yes Jeff... the 80/100 bulb owns!!! Seems bright as the sun compared to the OEM bulb

Here is a picture of the ram mount I got for my tom tom and the kawasaki lowers I put on.

It was the best picture to sort of catch everything. Now the Ram mount (highly recommended) is mounted on the left side of the handle bars instead.

I also just got my rear rack but it looks like I'm going to be drilling some holes in it in order to get it to mount to my rack, it said it would work with the fire and steel backrest but the mounting holes are further apart than the holes on the mounting plates of the backrest. Oh well, it'll get on there eventually.

This is the mounting setup that my bike has on it, is there a different mounting bracket that also works with the fire and steel backrest?

The holes here are 1.5 inches apart, on the backrest I ordered the holes are 2.75 inches apart.

So I'm going to attempt to get the rack I bought to fit, I ordered some different mounting brackets so when they come I will see where I am at with my backrest.

I'm also going to tackle an oil change this weekend, I have the clymer manual which outlines it pretty well....any specific suggestions about oil changes?

Thank you.

Whoever was asking about crappy fuel economy; mixture screw is the most likely culprit. Twisting the throttle comes in close second, but I can't get my mileage under 44 no matter how hard I ride. Mixture screw 1/2 turn too far out and I was at 38MPG!

Rusty,, don't know how I missed this one. I might just take you up on the offer. I have to check localy if an HD dealers are left. Most closed shop last summer.

OMG.. I can not believe no one has bid on this auction yet. ONLY 3 days left.

I personally like the look of the Regal Seat from Mustang. If I wouldn't have gotten one already, I would be bidding

For only $200 it looks to be a good deal.

I'm not completely sold on the look, but then again I'm not completely sold on getting a seat because as much as I've been able to ride so far I've been just fine on the stocker.

And for some reason I have it stuck in my head that I want engine guards.

I've been reading that your headlight is a wagner BP1210 H4, 80/100

I rode in the dark tonight and realized I could really use more light, would you recommend the bulb? Is there any special install details/modifications?

Again, congrats on solving the ticking!

Thanks!

HUGE difference!!! DO IT!!! You'll be happy!!! And it's the same base as the stock bulb, NOTHING to it! Two screws to open the housing, clip the new bulb in!!! No headlight level adjustment required if you don't touch the adjuster screws!

BP1210 H4: It's kind of like having the sun strapped to your triple tree the first time you hit the high beam
Nothing special, just as long as you don't have a lightbar wired to the headlight circuit.

Jeff's ticking solved? Now what are we going to do with ourselves?

Congratulations Jeffery! I'm sure Donkey is ecstatic for you as well.

On my way to work today, and rode the bike (44 F w/no gloves, won't do that again). I'm still amazed at the power the bike has from low range all the way to 70+ mph in 5th gear. However, I'm still getting a little clutch slippage every now and then due to the massive power my bike is now putting out.

What is the recommended clutch replacement for our bikes? I heard somewhere to use the 800 kit with 1500 springs, but then I read that 1500 springs suck donkey (not you Donkey, the other donkey). I can't believe that my flywheel (do bikes have flywheels?) needs replaced after 11k miles. Maybe resurfaced?

What difficulty level is this job, and how much time is required? I got a pretty long ride coming up on the 25th.

Been there... my clutch couldn't handle the extra power either. I'll have to look up exactly what I bought, but basically used OEM clutch discs with KG Clutch Factory 20% over springs. Think it cost me about $117 total and a couple hours labor. Oh, the seals for the coolant tube... you need those. If you reuse the old ones they will leak. Just used black Permatex for the gasket.

I think the part# was KGS-023 for the springs. The package is at the house so I'll double check the part# when I get home. Cost $15 at Cycle Outfitters in Greenwood.

I rode it this morning at 28°, thinsulate gloves were struggling to keep up...

Guys, I got a question... I wound 'er up good this morning, (new chain!) but ran out of road at the one point I remembered to try to hit the limiter... I hit 120+ km/h in third (75mph)... and no limiter! What should I be expecting?

It was SMOOOOOTH too... don't underestimate how much a chain contributes to the overall smooth-ness of the entire drive-train!

I have never hit it in third. Seeing as how I hit it mine at almost 60mph in 2nd, I think you just ran out of road. If I had to guess, third gear would put it at around 85-90mph. Im sure one of the other daredevils has the real answer.
