After some searching I found the fix on his website. Have you ever done it?
I think I'll be waiting to make a decision one way or the other.

No i've never done it. but really I wouldn't worry about that until you've figured out it's the problem. Are you doing all this just becuase your gas mileage doesn't seem up to par?

Hey Wisc, now your thinking about diaphams now huh. Yes I was talking about the slide diapham ( the largest one , comes in from the top ), It's easy to take out, 4 screw and remove the top, ( WATCH OUT FOR THE SPRING UNDER THE TOP COVER ANY PLACE YOU THINK IT MIGHT FALL IN TO), lift out. Hold up to a lite and look for holes. If the accelurator pump diapham get a hole in it it will leak gas out of the linkage hole , you will know. If the cutout valve diapham gets a hole you will here some backfiring. The slide diapham will effect perfromance.

You're a funny guy I've taken the carb apart before to install the jets so I know how to do it, I just don't necessarily want to if I don't have to. I'm not getting any leaking gas or backfiring, just the gas mileage isn't great and the top end seems to dog out....not much there.

I'm not even sure there is a real issue here, and if I wasn't on the internet and on this forum I'd probably say...oh it's just the bike and be happy with it

Chain and rear sprocket came today The chain looks beefy - EK Quadra-X 530SRX, and the new rear sprocket isn't solid like the stock one (holes between the bolt holes). Sure hope I ordered the correct stuff

One other thing to check for,, the carb slide spring sets ontop of the needle jet retainer, the retainer has 3 tabs that you must make should that they don't cover over the vacuum port hole in the slide, check to see if the vacuum port is clear.

Same chain I just installed on my bike, yes it's heavyer than oem. Holes just make the sprocket liter that's all.

165/50 with aftermarket needle, clip 2nd position from the top with 2 spacers on top (as directed to prevent needle bounce)

Needle is from kuryakyn jet kit for 800s.

I'm looking at it now and I'm thinking no.

But I'm going to order one and get one....seems like it will be quite a bit easier. - Would I be able to pick a clip style master link up from a motorcycle shop or should I order online and overnight it from somewhere?

I was going to depend on my mechanic friend for the chain/master link experience.

They don't come with the chain, the crimp type does, and you'll need a specail tool to install this type. I ordered mine, made by and for the ek srx chain from Dennis Kirk ( I ordered two , one as a spare kept on the bike ) makes install a lot easier. I beleive they're about 6 bucks + shipping.

Yeah I just realized all of this. Is the tool motorcycle specific? I'm calling to see if someone has one I can use.

so before you added the intake and jets did you ever check the gas mileage? It seems that most people lose a lot of thier gas mileage when doing the intake/exhaust mods because of the bigger jets and what not. Not sure why you would lose the topend unless its being drowned in fuel.

have you ever taken it all the way through the RPM range in all the gears? Your bike should top out in 4th. The bike won't have enough HP to top out in 5th. If you know a road that isn't used much and doesn't typically have cops I would let er rip and take it through the RPM range in each gear and see where it actually tops at. Of course don't do it on a windy day against the wind as that has a dramatic effect on top end.

Your bike should definitely have plenty left after 80mph.

Tkuligowski I appreciate all the suggestions!

Gas mileage before the jet work....I was only on the bike a little before I actually did the work and I think it HAD to be close to the same as it is now....I have always been filling up at 100 miles (before hitting reserve).

Again, I might just be crazy.

The tool is not motorcycle specific but it is chain size specific, Plus they can be a pain in the butt to use, this is why I prefer and use clip-type links.

your welcome...where is most of your riding? city or highway? Most of my riding is highway so I don't usually switch over till 140-150 and thats when I HAVE too. I usually always let it go to reserve because I'm never far from a gas station.
