I just got my 96 vulcan 800 and so far love the bike. The only thing i dislike badly is rear fender and light. I would also like to lower the bike and make it a bit stiffer. I read a whole bunch of threads on this forum and just registered. I am not sure where am i supposed to post this question so i post it here.On scootworks website (found through this forum) there are at least three lowering kits for the rear. I am trying to deside which one to get. I have been trying to find pictures of this kits installed on the bikes, but wasnt able to. PLEASE can someone direct me on that matter! Thanks in advance. There are a ton of options, but I'm only ASSUMING you are talking about the A model... can you post pics?! It's usually a requirement by your second post! This is the best thread to start with anything 800 related... there are pic of a lowered 800... man, I'm gonna have to search to try to find that! Have you tried the search yet?

DONKEY!!!
![]() Seriously, if you haven't yet, you'll likely notice a heavy "Donkey" influence on the forum... it started several months ago, simply because of my av, and a bunch of us that are loyal Donkey followers have been chatting regularly for quite a while... I mentioned something about having a three-day weekend free to do with as I please because my wife is away, and the idea was born... And then it just TOOK OFF!!! It came to be that Kansas was about as central as we could get, one of the members is in a band there, and I found a way to get there by plane (can't get all the way to Kansas and back by bike in that short a time), but come hell or high water, I'll be there! So the short story? A commitment by a bunch pf people that spend WAY too much time on here to get together and actually MEET!!!

Details pour out in this thread, the Donkey overload thread, over PM's and emails... it's one month today, so as things develop I'll try to keep you in the loop, but PROMISE me you'll ask as it's gets closer, 'cause things get hectic!!!
It's DEFINITELY the 8th of August near Leavenworth... but I can't spell the actual name of the place!

Allow me to follow up Jeff here... the "official" get-together is August 8th at Helen's Hilltop (a biker bar) in Tonganoxie, Kansas. It's located at 19611 McLouth Road. The band I'm in, Southern Reign, is playing that night from 9 PM to 1 AM. But folks will be arriving as early as Wednesday night and as late as a few hours before the gig.
So far, about 15-20 folks are gonna meet up there. We have 4 from Canada and a number of others from Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Alabama, North Carolina and possibly Nebraska, Arkansas, Illinois and Virginia. Most are staying at the Sunset Motel (913-845-9800), 3.16 miles from the bar. It's a very small motel - nothing fancy, just clean rooms. Last I talked with Phyllis, she was almost completely booked - she may have 1 room left. I believe they are going for $47. If you are interested, please join us. It looks like it's gonna be a great time. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to jump in the Donkey Overload Reservior thread and ask or you can just PM me.

I forgot to post these pictures, from last weekend went on a ride with a vstar and a 750 vulcan.
![]() ![]() We only went about forty miles because the 750 owner is a new rider and is still getting his legs, backroads, low traffic stuff. It was fun, it's always fun riding with friends.

Your best bet for colour and paint is colorite.com, you can search by year, make and model of bike. I'll have to check your first post for the pic to see if it's an A model or not... EDIT: Yup, that's an A. Does the B fender (Classic) interest you? That might be the easiest, cheapest option! ![]()

Hey All,
Just purchased a 04' Vulcan with 737 miles (yes, that isn't a typo it really has only 737 miles) on it and it only has one issue. I only include the mileage so you know it hasn't been driven within an inch of it's life. It starts fine, but the choke must be on (I thought these were warm blooded?) Here is where I notice two things. After warming up and having the choke off for a while, if I then pull the choke back out it will start to rev really high. Putting the choke back in brings it back down to around normal levels. I'm thinking it should probably stall after pulling the choke out, not rev. Another thing happening is that if I rev the engine (choke off), it will hold that rev for around 3 seconds before going back down. I have verified that the throttle cable isn't getting stuck. Well, verified as in I watched the actuator on the carbs and it closes fully when I let go of the throttle. What do you all think. Air leak? Thanks |
