I read someone on here that if your bike backfires through the carb you should adjust the mixture screw out 1/4 turn. Where is the mixture srew I have looked all over that carb and cant find it. I have a lot of back firing through the carb at low speeds. Did however get the seat off thanks to all of your answers and adjusted my riding pegs so I can rest my feet on them on the road.

800B, right??? It's kinda hard to get to, but it's at the bottom of the carb, slightly toward the engine side. You'll likely need to remove the air breather to get at it. Use a small, short screwdriver. (The pocket-clip kind work OK.)
1/4 turn at a time, go just a little too far and you will absolutely wreck your fuel economy and foul plugs.

you're selling your bike?
What can you tell me about nomads, what years are best to stay away from? Have any pictures of yours?

I was going to get to all that... just been pretty busy is all.
I only have 200 miles on the bike, so I can't say a whole lot. It's friggin' huge, slower takeoff than the 800, gobs of torque and it's all way down low... and it's barely idling in 5th at 70MPH. I'd say the 800's are EXCELLENT bikes from 0 to 65-70MPH, but the 1500/1600 has plenty more left after 70 and is very relaxed going down the interstate. I hear the older ones kinda suck, but 2001 and up are better. I can't confirm that though. Only had the bike 1 day, heh heh.

Only pics I have so far were taken at the dealer before I picked it up.
![]() ![]() ![]() It's a 2001 1500 Nomad F.I. with about 10,600 miles on the clock.

That's a great looking bike. I bet that feels huge compared to the 800. Eventually I would like to move up to either a nomad or larger classic - kawasaki makes such good looking bikes.

Nice bike Rusty!! I like the nomad also,I was looking at a 06 1500 classic during the 4th but I'm on the fence on whether I want a nomad or fatboy. Looks like we (the 800er's) are loosin a carbmaster, lol.

Thanks everyone... I thought I'd be kicked out of the 800 Club for this one, but thanks

I haven't exactly sold the 800 yet either
![]() I don't want to sell it either; I'll probably cry and stuff... but unfortunately I really really NEED the money to pay on the Nomad. I had no intention on buying another bike this year (can't afford it), but this was too good to pass up.

I've only had the Nomad a few days now, so the jury's still out.
Definately feels like driving a school bus compared to my 800. Sucks in parking lots, but I'm starting to get used to it. There are a couple things I really do not like about it; the bars put my wrists at a unnatural angle (so did my 800 when I bought it so I changed the bars); the seating position isn't the best, not too bad, but as much room as there is I should be sitting 2" further back IMHO. My wife LOVES it; I can't get her off the back. (The bike actually handles BETTER with a passenger for the most part.) My 800 is pretty buzzy even at 65 and feels like I'm straining it if I spend much time at 70MPH. The Nomad is just getting started at 70 so I can actually keep up with traffic on the interstate now and don't feel I'm straining the bike.
