That is a great looking bike...really fills that parking spot up

at some point you should get some pictures of it next to your 800, comparison shots.

Hope the weather is great this weekend for you.

+1 with the 800 comparison shots!

I have a prediction that before long, Rusty will have a hitch installed and a small trailer built for it

Cool bike Rusty!!

So I have a question for you guys. Have any of you been able to do a wheelie on your 800? Sometimes for fun I try to take off real fast and I'm trying to raise the RPMS a little more each time before letting of the clutch but I'm not sure of the bikes power. I've had a bad experience with a wheelie once...but I'd really like to know if I rev the 800 all the way up to 7-8grand if she will lift up a bit. Anyone have any stories or anything to tell?

Got the front wheel lifted once going from 2nd to 3rd, and decided then and there that I don't like riding unicycles under power....

wow from 2nd to 3rd? crazy. I had this little kawasaki 250 that was pretty slow and one day I was like screw it. i bet i can hold this thing at 11 grand and drop the clutch and it won't do a thing....uhhh wrong answer. It went way up and I slipped off the back and tried running with it to save from spilling. Only problem is I'm hanging on the throttle so that didn't work well. Bike fell and so did I.

I used to do wheelies all the time with my dirtbike but I could do those with minimal throttle so it was easier to judge without having to drop the clutch.

I bet the 95 800's with the low gears could do one a little easeir.

Mine will lift the wheel off the ground a couple inches under hard acceleration. I run a 17-45 sprockets. But i would not rev it up and dump it have too much time and money in my 800 to do something stupid that is why we have dirtbikes.
I bet you could ride a wheelie on one but i am not going to try.

It MAY carry an immeasurable amount of points if you show up at the DoD with it! That just MIGHT solidify your honourary 800-er membership!!!

I did a complete removal/reinstallation of my front tire today boys... on my 800... Highly recommend it if you are even THINKING of doing it yourself! Nothing to it... and used just tire irons, nothing mechanical! I remember BICYCLE tires being harder than that!

I'll post a new thread tomorrow after I do the rear wheel... I took pics as I went!

Why the front tire? That's a weird way to get to the engine sprocket/rear sprocket and carb!

Found out I had my rear brake set too tight tonight. I put my bike in the air today to clean and measure the chain. I noticed the back wheel was really hard to turn so I started looking around thinking maybe the tire was rubbing on something on the jack. Well I couldn't figure it out and then figured I would try loosening the adjusting nut on the rear brake. All the sudden my wheel was almost spinning by itself. So now I have something else to OCD about. Trying to figure out how tight to set the brake. Sitting at a stoplight I noticed a huge difference. The bike was rolling backwards real easy so i had to hold it with the front brake. I think maybe I have it set too loose because it doesn't feel like it has as much stopping power anymore. I was still able to lock the rear wheel jamming on it but it doesn't feel right.

I guess it will just be a guessing game or is there a method to finding the correct setting? I don't want the wheel draging on the brakes but I want to be safe as well and have some stopping power. I'm sure the wheel dragging on the brake doesn't do wonders on my fuel economy either.

How much pedal travel do you have when you hit the brakes? it should be .8 to 1.2 inches (about 3/4 to 1 1/4), not less. I run mine about 1 inch. You can also adjust the pedal stop to raise the pedal height which will give a little more lever action to increase the stopped power a little. Height should be ,in the resting position, 2.4 to 2.8 inches above the foot peg., Ive got mine right at 2.8. Also check your brake cable for binding, they can fray inside the housing and get tight, I beleive Wiscblue had this simular problem.

with drum brakes on cars, i know you set them to allow the wheel to spin once or twice on its own after you give it a good spin... i dont know on bikes...

I had this problem when the bike was on the jack when I put it on the ground the problem seemed to go away, I have not had any problem with my brakes since then - not sticking or anything like previously encountered.

My brake shoes were new, I did not replace the line. I'm not sure what the deal was.

I cannot comment on the correct settings for rear brakes. I tend to leave my rear brake a little loose to help prevent it locking up when I step a little to hard.

Mine will pull the wheel fairly easily, but I still have the 1995/96 stock 16/46 sprockets too. Usually do it accidentally shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. Don't dump the clutch though, not good for the bike.
