OK, OK already. No more premium for Candy...though, at $2.11 a gallon, you'd think regular unleaded WAS premium plus gasoline!!!

I just got gas today for $1.92 a gallon for regular unleaded (87 octane). Lowest it has been for awhile. This is the first time checking gas mileage since changing the front sprocket to the 18 tooth. I have been using the trip odometer to gauge when to get gas, before the 18 tooth i had to switch to reserve anywhere from 115-125 miles, but never even took 3 gallons. Today hit 119 miles, took 2.4 gallons =49.58 mpg. I may have filled it a little fuller than last time, so actual mpg is probably over 50...not bad!

Help! just bought a 97 800 classic, no manual, haven't had a bike for 14 years, although this is my fourth bike, it's only the second Kaw (had a 440) and man, am I doing stupid things, at the age of 55. Looked in the silver oil plug on the left side, didn't see any oil, wondered where the dipstick was, and just dumped a quart on for good measure. Then realized I might have made a mistake, called a biker friend and he reminded me about the little round glass. Well, I was now above the round glass, so I had to drain the quart back out (at least, now I know where the drain plug is).
Well, I sure hope that the overflow tank for the cooling system is on the right side behind the engine, I found a clear tube and a L (I assume for Low) and a H on it. Thanks for the advice about running regular gas, also, without this form I wouldn't know that there is a rev limiter. Anything else I need to know? Oh, yeah, I assume that there is no separate gear box with transmission fluid or anything, it's all done by the engine oil, right? I sure appreciate any suggestions. By the way, the bike only had 2300 miles on it when I got it 6 days ago. |

Penguin, Sorry... I didn't see this one. I love our area, and now that we've moved. Our kids are in A+ schools this year. But had you asked last year when we lived in Mobile County, Alabama... Well let's say you'd get an ear full! I hated living in the "deep south" then. Now with the gulf almost across the street, and better schools I'm happy. Now if I could just find some riding partners........ |

Yes, well, they might call Lower Alabama "LA", but it ain't! Next time you are northward bound, stretch it on up to the Atlanta area and we'll say howdy.

Hello everybody this is my first post so please go easy on me. I have an 05 800-A . i took it on the interstate last week for the first time and noticed a vibration in the footpegs at about 70-75 mph. just wondering is this normal. The vibration wasn't bad, it wasn't in the handlebars or the seat just in the pegs. any input would be helpful.

I think it's normal, mine seems that way and that's the speed I commute at, the bike is geared kinda low so maybe your impression of the vibes is because of that. I installed floorboards, that might take away some of the sensation of vibes. Congrates on your new bike.
