On ebay ending tomorrow:
Fire and Steel floorboards
Kawi windshield
Kawi rear rack
Stock exhaust
Throwover saddle bags

Look under seller name 87t4r for a listing. I forgot to mention this earlier. Should have offered them on here first. Thought I'd let everyone know. I also posted this in accessories forum. Thanks!

Default Service Manual

I've tried unsuccessfully to sell a factory Service Manual for the 1985 - 1991 VN 700/750 series. Here's the link to the closed auction:

If anyone wants it, I'll give it to you for just the cost of shipping!

I am looking at some standard sized bars for my metric bike. They are 1.25" stepped down to 1" at the controls and use 1/2" bolts to mount. My bike, Vulcan 800A, has 1" original bars, but I'm not sure of the bolt size. Does anyone know if I can use these standard sized bars on my bike? Thanks!

Well, I have done some more researching and found that the V&H Cruzers I have on the bike come with baffles that are removable and REPACKABLE. I will remove them tomorrow and see what they have for packing. Considering the way they sound now (like straights IMO), I seriously doubt there is any packing at all. Since I have a HUGE amount of nice fiberglass insulation I can use for packing (assuming that fiberglass is what I am supposed to use), I will maybe have a nice set of pipes, and cool sound, AND the marital bliss I want to enjoy while riding 2up.

I wound up biting the bullet and ordering a set that are made for my bike. They cost $155, which isn't bad and they'll fit perfectly. Thanks for the info.

I haven't ridden in 17 yrs, I've been disabled for the last 6 yrs and just started again with an '05 Vulcan 750. It says right on the bike to use Pemium Gas ONLY. I believe for the money you spend on them they can be more specific about the types of fuel and what will happen if you use the lower grade.

How much more specfic can you be than stating premium gas, it is spelled out on the pumps.

I Live in Atlanta and it SUCKS !!!!!! We can't wait, 5 more sememsters and my wifes going back to school will have paid off and we can put our house up forsale and get out of the South, unless you're talking about the Beach then it's a WHOLE DIFFERENT SOUTH ! I was born and raised in Lewis Delaware and spent ALL my summers as kid at Cape Henolopen. When you're born and raised right at the ocean you spend your whole life(or at least I do) trying to get back. Delaware has all of 3 Counties and I LOVE the place, it's home and I miss it !I loved swimming in the ocean until that ****ED "JAWS" came out when I was a kid !

Sure can add to the forum, no problem at all.

However, when you're posts are not exactly friendly & on the grumpy side along with having nothing good to say some people might think you are nothing but a troll looking for trouble & hopping to cause dissent & problems.

I read my owners manual & the sticker on the bike both said to use 91 octane as a minimum. So I have for the most part but I did experiment with mid grade to see what would happen.

All I noticed was a little less seat of the pants power & did not get quite as good MPG, so I'm back to using 91 octane.

The vibration wasn't bad, it wasn't in the handlebars or the seat just in the pegs. any input would be helpful.
they come with a 17-42 setup ,changed my front sprocket to an 18 tooth,no more vibration.

The 18 tooth front sprocket is a very popular mod on the 800's.

Default sprocket mod

yeah thats just one of the setups, sorta depends on the year of the bike you have, and riding style you prefer. plenty of air box mods out there to. i prefer the 18 tooth sprocket because its change & go . most other sprocket setups your adding/removing chain links.

Thumbs up just found this board and now I want to go shopping???

I have a 97 Vulcan 800A. Is it likely that a dealer will stock the 18 tooth sprocket? If not, what is the best place to order?

I am interested in V&H pipes. Where is the best price? So far I think Cruisercustomizing. Will I need to rejet the carb if I change to these pipes?

I spent at least 1 hour reading all the posts last night.

Thanks
Dave

v Congrats on the A you'll like it. I posted a link in the sprocket thread. Go with the V & H cruizers for the pipes ,best sounding pipes for the 800 . Others will agree when the get home by the weekend. If chabnging the pipes is all your doing right now ,you don't need to rejet, just turn the A/F screw out a half of turn. You ought to take the epa cr*ap off while your doing the pipes an carb adjustment . It will stop the decelleration pops an let the engine run a little cooler as well. Just got done helping a neighbor do it on his new 800A an he definitely noticed an improvement (an liked it by the way)

good luck finding anything except for a oil/air filter at a dealer thats in stock. they probely can order one for you i have a previous post on this subject. renthal makes good sprockets, type renthal in on a search. as far as the vance & hines pipes, if you like your pipes loud ,then thats the way to go i have straight shots on mine but you better plan on changing jets in the carb because 10% to 20 % of your power will be lost, providing your bike is stock,(carb has never been modified) i know from experience ,you can run the pipes without rejetting. do yourself a favor if you dont have one already buy a k&n air filter, you wont see any power change with the k&n but its reusable ( makes it worth the money)
