Accourding to theWiki postings, the blower sticking out the top was fake. Quote "the supercharger protruding through the bonnet which is for looks only, as a working supercharger is not able to be toggled on and off as shown in the film."

I'd agree, except I usually scroll back up and have a look, just in case a post came in while I was typing.

Wasn't anything there when I did, so I can only write it off to some quirk of the servers.

Yeah, I like that "lumpy" idle too. What I was thinking of though was the early '60s Dodge and Plymouth cars that weren't really intended to use a forced induction system. Those tended to have the upper headlights replaced with intakes.
Can't remember a particular model to look up, but here's a 1960 Ford that's set up that way:
1960 Ford Starliner
It has the inner two headlights replaced with intakes.

I have to imagine they must be, I went through the instructions (although a long time ago) and I certainly don't remember any electrics or electronics!
I was just looking at an exploded view diagram of the hypercharger earlier, and I can tell ya for a fact that the butterflies are operated by vacuum. There's a diaphragm chamber just in front of the carb intake, with a control rod attached.
Scroll down to the bottom of this PDF file and have a look.

And yes, I already knew you couldn't turn a blower off and on. Not without some sort of venting around or past the turbines any way.

You can in a way....BBV or boost bypass valve. Although having it not turn the turbines would be difficult. I believe one of the european car companies BMW, mercedes has figured this out though and it saves a lot of gas since
your not using HP to turn the supercharger even when your not in boost.

Welcome Rusty!
SCOOTWORKS Belt Drives, lowering kits, handlebar risers, motorcycle parts and accessories, chrome bolts is the only place that I have seen selling aftermarket pipes for the en500. I don't know of anyone across the pond off the top of my head, but I will see what I can find.
Is the pipe rusted through?

I'd really like to get some saddlebags for next year. Checked Kawasaki's website for accessories for the 2001 800, and a common size for saddlebage is 11"x14-1/2" (slant)x5-1/2.

Couple questions about this, I checked there to find the correct size....does this mean if I go with this size I won't have to relocate the rear turn signals? Also, when they say 14-1/2 (slant), does that mean the overall width from "tip" to "tip....in other words, it would fit in a 14-1/2" box?

Thanks, from the size description on that page, it sounds like it's the overall length of the bag, and not the actual opening. Apparently I could go with a bigger bag as well.

I got the Saddlemen Desperado... (stock pic):

Obviously I had to be concerned about the signals too and according to the fitment chart both the large and jumbo were "recommended", so I went Jumbo as most people say they are smaller than you expect.

They work, and I like them. This is my bike, although you can't see how they work with the signal light in this pic as you can in the stock pic above.

http://i343.photobucket.com/albums/o...s/DSC_3203.jpg

Also, I wanted to mount them WITHOUT the yoke, so here's a thread with my $12 solution to that...

Good luck, let us know what you do, ALWAYS interested in 800 saddlebag solutions!

(Let me know if you want to see pics of how they fit with the signals... although it's a LOT like the stock pic above)

Yay!!! I just stepped up to a 900 Classic Lt last week!!!
Question.... dealer set the tire pressures to 38 front and 40 rear..... the MOM has it much lower then that.... I know the dangers of over filling the tires... was curious if he knew something about possible historical problems with tire pressures... or did he just set it to what the other models he deals with are averaging?
What pressures are you running... mind you mine have the OE tires so varying sidewall stifnesses will not come into play here.

Looks like you got a dealer that actually knows what they are doing. 38/40 is perfect. The lower pressure will give a smoother ride, but handling suffers and the tires will need replacing much sooner. 38/40 is the way to go!!

Congrats on the new scoot!!

Since this is pretty much the 800 thread, I thought I would post this here as well. I did a $15 intake mod and it worked out pretty well I think. In case anyone is interested. http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/fo...ntake-mod.html
