Glad I could be of service. Sort of the same thing happened to a fellow forum member last year on the way back from the Spok-B-Que. I found the trouble and we were on our way before long. It happened a couple more times but I knew what to do at least and later he got the shorted wire fixed.

Bought an '07 1600Classic about a month ago. Traded up from a Suzuki C50. This Classic is everything I'd wished the 800 was. Love the thing. I had the Suzie lowered through the use of longer dogbones. Completly different suspension on the Classic. I have a pretty short inseam (29"). I can flatfoot the classic but alittle bit more woud be nice. I've read I can drop it 1.5 inches by using 11.5" Progressive 412 or 418 shocks. I was wondering if anyone's done this and what is your experience. Are you satisfied with the ride? Can you still adjust stiffness with the Progressive and is it as easy as the oem thumbwheel? Anyone have thoughts on this?

hey viper, welcome to the forum. i would start a new thread in the cruiser section with your question. i know there are a lot of members on here that have gone with Progressive and they would be more than happy to share their thoughts. this thread just doesn't get a lot of traffic.

Hello,
I'm a newby here, just bought an 04 Nomad a couple of weeks ago. My brother-in -law got me hooked when he forced me to ride his. Anyhoo, this bike came with V & H baggers , sound great, and a K & N filter. It also has a Powercommander. With the PC set for these pipes and intake I get 20 - 25 mpg. If I set the PC to all zero's (no influence on the fuel injection), I get 38 - 40 mpg . Question is, is it running too lean for this setup and will it hurt the engine? Seems to run fine. This bike had about 7k miles and I want it to last. Opinions and help welcome. TIA |

Okay, As the owner of a brand new 1500 Classic FI I have a question about seats.
The stock seat is VERY cushy but it has NO back support. Also I feel like I'm setting to high. Is there a seat that will set you lower (1" or 2") and have some back support? Also: Will a seat for a 1600 Mean Streak fit the 1500? I asked this on the Cruiser Threads and got ZERO responses. I've been looking at the Saddlemen "Explorer Special" from Meancycles but Their picture isn't very clear abd it doesn't show it mounted. Mustang told me in an Email their seat actually sets higher than the stock seat and still no support unless you get a backrest type seat. Aif

honestly, i don't know if aftermarket seats move you up or down, i can never remember. as for the Meanie seat, you don't want the stock one, it is terrible. not sure if it even bolts on.
have you looked into a driver's backrest with just the stock seat ? there should be a few of them out there.

I've been looking at an add-on backrest but I'll still be to high in the seat. I had a Kawi Gel seat on my 900 and it was great. They're also supposed to be made by saddlemen co. I guess I'll try the "Explorer Special" and see how it turns out.
Thanks for the reply. Aif

Howdy Aif! Congrats on the new bike.
After sitting on many bikes and many seats, I suggest getting a Mustang seat and either an aftermarket backrest or just get the pricey Mustang seat/backrest combo. However, I know nothing about the Saddleman seats so maybe you have already made a good choice. Ride safe, Kim

And like David said, stay away from the Mean Streak stock seat, it is less of a seat and more of a medevil torture device.

Thanks for the replies. How ya doin' Mopar?
Does the Mustang set lower than the stock 1500 seat or higher? I know there are different styles of the seat but I'm looking for actual users that can tell me for sure. Aif

I've got a Royal Tour on my 1500 Nomad. It sits about the same height, but moved me forward slightly, about .5 to 1 inch. It is very comfortable.

Doing purty good Aif.
If you need a lower seat, Corbin usually has that feature, and they are also good quality products. You should talk to Lobocop about that brand. He has dealt with them quite a lot.

I have an 06 MS bought new. I had a 1100 shadow spirit before that and fortunately kept it. The MS is a gas hog. 40-41 on the road 17-23 in just running around city. shadow handles better on twisty roads and gets 33 mpg in city and 41on road and is lighter with better leg room I'm 6'1". the MS is a straight line bike good for a trip on the interstate but generally handles like a Hudson i've put 12k miles on it and its taken 3 tires, and a new fuel pump under warranty. the spirit has 64K and still runs well for a 10 year old bike. now they dont make either any more. 2 orphans but next time i stick with Honda.
