There isn't anything to "tune" or change, unless you have a fuel controller too.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to get one though. The bike is already a bit lean running and the freeflowing air kit leans it a bit more.

Finally had some sun today in lovely new england and took the bike (99 Nomad 1500 just under 7000 miles) to work for the overnight shift. I noticed a "ticking" on the bike. It sounds like its coming from my front left area. Pulled over took a peek thinking it was a loose nut or something, found nothing. Got back on and noticed the ticking went away when I held the clutch in and came back when let go. Cant hear it over my Baggers when Im pulling the throttle but when coasting I can hear it. I just want to catch a problem before it gets bigger. I dont notice any difference in performance and handling. Any ideas or clues? Thanks!

New owner of 08 meanie, but I have a problem....I'm 6'2", haha, and I need some extenders for my controls but can find them ANYWHERE, and silly me, I don't wanna drop $600 on a pair of jardine's. Anyone know where they make/sell an extension kit? Or cheaper forward controls? Thanks in advance

not sure about yours, but on the newer 1500's there is a sight glass on the right side of the motor, kinda under the pipes, behind the clutch cover. if you can't find it, post this question in the cruiser section in it's own thread. this thread doesn't see a whole lot of traffic.

I own the '97 and it took me 3 months to find it. On mine it's close to where your right toe would be, but I have to move a line to see it, very bad spot and hard to find. I'll try to post a pic, soon.

It's actually more like under you right heel, move the brake line, turn your head upside down and find a flashlight. In the picture, I only show part of the circle of the window on mine.

Default 07 1600 nomad w/cobra speedster longs and PClll USB need mapping

Hi there.....I'm as green as grass when it comes to using a power commander, I just got these pipes and PC and it is set for a stock bike. of the available maps in the database there is no map for my set-up....could a fella just pick one and see what it does or do I have to take the bike to someone who can set a map?...are there any other databases I can download from?....I could browse through the thousands of blogs myself but just dont have the time. I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction.

oh yeah....the bike runs perfectly and sounds like an old ww2 bomber which is just what I wanted....it barks well with the cobra's but if I have this power commander I should probably get it mapped right?

just pick the one closest to your setup and see how she runs. you may need to go through a few before you find the power and economy you want, with the bike running well. i lucked out with my Meanie and found a map that works well for me on the first try.

I'm brand new to this site.

I've been riding a 2003 Vulcan 1500 Mean Streak for about a year now. I've noticed that the side of my brake foot (right foot) near the ankle is blistered (from the heat from the muffler I figure). I do wear boots, and the blistered skin seems to be covered by the boot leather so the heat must be penetrating the boot.

Do you have any idea what I can do to eliminate this problem?

that doesn't sound good at all, sounds like your bike is running way too hot. has there been any mods at all to the motor, like intake, pipes or fuel processor ? i have mine running all three and have run it hard in really hot weather and never even come close to that kind of heat ???

Thanks for the ideas. The original owner replaced the pipes and added some kind of electronic device for them. The only thing I can think of is that when I laid the bike down once, the foot rest was bent up a little which may put my foot closer to the pipes.

That's another thing. You have any idea how to bend the foot peg down a little. I'm afraid to hit it with a hammer fearing I could break the weld.

is it the bracket itself that is bent ? i would unbolt it, put it in a vice, maybe add some heat and try to move it straight with an adjustable or something along those lines.

Can any one help me? Will a 1992 Ignitor box work on my 1990 Vn1500?

you might want to fire off a new thread in the mechanics section, that's a pretty technical question that might require past experience or both wiring diagrams side by side.
