glad it worked for ya !

as for the fender, have you tried posting your own thread in the cruiser section ? this thread doesn't see a ton of traffic, but i bet you will find some advice if you start your own.

All,
I have a question concerning an issue with my 1996 Vulcan 1500 Classic. I started having starting troubles a few weeks ago. At first when I would engage the starter button the bike would just click and try to turn over slowly. I would hit it again and then it would begin to turn over and the bike would start. It begin to get worse and sometimes I would hit it and nothing would happen, sometimes it would just click/buzz, and other times it would finally start. Last week it got to where it will just buzz/click. I took off the right side cover and discovered that the buzzing sound is coming from the starter solenoid. I have ruled out the battery being the issue. I verified by using a 12 volt batter on my tractor and it still does the same thing. I figured the solenoid was the problem so I replaced it. With great hope and anticipation I turned on the key and hit the starter button.........all I got was the same buzzing/vibration from the replacement solednoid!!! No change. Can someone help me out? I appreciate your feedback. It has been raining here in East Tennessee everyday for a week or so, but the weather is supposed to be dry this weekend and I would love to get out and ride!!!

Thanks,

Greg

I think it is either your battery, and/or the connections at the battery or the starter.

Default Rear guards for a 04' 1600 Vukcan?

I'm having a hard time finding rear crash bars. Will the Nomad rear bars fit on a Vulcan? Any suggestions? Thanks

E-Bay has some "dresser bars" for Vulcan 1500 Classics.......................might just be able to find them for a 1600 also.

Thanks Duffy. I didn't realize they are called dresser bars. That might help me finding them for the Classic.

If you find some dresser bars on ebay, be careful of the shipping charges.

Most of the parts from the Nomad and Classic are interchangeable, but I can't say for sure about the dresser bars.

Ah yes, always beware of the "shipping and handling" charges. Some sellers try to make up for the cost with this.............

Everything I have looked at online tells me that my 2006 1500 Classic Anniverary is fuel injected. however - my machine has a choke on it at the key start. I have never seen a choke on any kind of fuel injection. so - the dilemma is this - carbed or not? and I don't wanna have to take the seat off if I can help it. I tried searching the VIN # but to no avail. can anyone here help? thanx, Mike.

I have an '08 VN1500FI and it has the same thing, but it's not a choke. All it does is increase the idle on startup.
It had me going when I first looked at it in the dealership until the sales guy explained it. Idle advance for cold starts.

Kawasaki calls it an en-richer circuit. I have an 05 1500 FI. I don't think they made the carbed bike in 06. Does the tank have a lip/seam around the bottom? The FI tank is smooth on the bottom edge. Carbed bike holds 4.2 gallons and the FI tank holds 5.0.

All 2006 1500's were F.I. and the 'choke' knob is only there to increase idle RPM when cold; it does not change the A/F mixture.

Default Vulcan Nomad 1600 whine noise from rear

I posted this a couple of days ago in the mechanics corner but have gotten no replies so I thought I'd try here. I have a 2008 Nomad 1600 with 15500 miles on it, the bike is serviced regularly, at 12k I had the rear tire replaced and went from the stock 170/70 to a 180/70 Bridgestone excedra, shortly after that I noticed that from 45-55 mph in any gear if I lean the bike slightly off the center of the tread there is a high pitched whine or howl noise comming from the rear end. The noise is not noticed below or above that speed. I changed the rear diff fluid thinking mabye that had something to do with it. I use spectro 75w-90 full synthetic lube. I did not notice anything unusual about the fluid I drained out. The noise is very annoying but so far I havent noticed anything else that may be causing it. I love this bike and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!!!

Sounds like your tire is 'singing' to me; probably due to the tread pattern, or maybe the rubber compound. I would think the whine would decrease once the tires are broken in though (about 1K).

Talking Rear Turn Signal Bar

I have a 1996 Vulcan 1500 Classic and the turn signal bar will not tighten against the fender with the metal spacers inserted into the rubber bumpers, which makes the light bar float. Is this the correct way for this bar to mount on this specific model.

I don't know if it's "correct" but mine (05 1500 Classic) did the same so I just added some rubber washers between the fender and the bar and the movement went away.
