I am buying a 97 1500 classic next week. On the test drive I heard the exact same thing. Concerned me at first but it must be in the tires. I was coasting down hill on switchbacks in neutral so had no engine noise to drown out the "hum". I must of looked like a fool banking right and left for a mile but I was trying to identify where the sound was coming from. I'm convinced it is in the tires and the side treads, depending on what kind of tires they are. If anyone knows of a different reason, would love to hear it...

I have a 2006 Vulcan 2000 Classic and I would like to install Vance & Hines powershots on my bike and some say that I will need a Power Comander to remap the fuel mixture and air. I have had a Kawasaki dealership tell me that some of the same models will do just fine with out them. But some models either will have to have a power comander on them or I will need to take about a 60 mile trip for the computer to reprogram it self. Could any one help please? Millerman!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm. I've never noticed that on my 1500 Classic.

Yes I truely believe that you are right. My tires on my Vulcan 2000 on some types of roads make unusual sounds don't worry I really do not think that you have any thing to worrry about. If you know any one with a Vulcan 2000 and has installed Vance & Hines powershots please find out if they had to remap the feul and air with a power comander or was it just fine aftier installing the exhaust. Exhaust is around $600.00 dollars but the powercomander is another $400.00 dollars which total a grand and at Christmas time well it just won't happen. Thanks Millerman

ok, here's what i understand to be true. with just an exhaust upgrade, you are fine without a power commander. you will not see the true power gains without the PC, but you will not hurt the bike without it. once you add an intake though, that is when you need to compensate for the greater flow of air. so, if money is the issue, go with pipes first. then, pick up a power commander and intake down the road. for the best results, have the bike dyno tuned once you have all three. how's that ?

Thanks alot ispeed77, really like the Vance & Hines Powershots, at least now I know where I stand and I really thank you for this. I hope to buy the Powershots in about a month and may be get the pc in another month. I really did not want to do something wrong and cause my bike alot of problems and have the dealership say that this would be my fault and waranty does not cover. millerman

I think personally, you should go with an intake and PC first as the exhaust system on our beloved V2K's already flows very well. Some good R&D there by Kawi. Most exhaust systems for our bike hurt performance more than they actually help and I'm speaking from dyno experience. If you got any questions, let me know.

Default de-baffeling the 1600 classic

has anyone removed or modified the baffles on the stock 1600 classic exhaust? I like the looks of the stock pipes, but need a little more rumble!

Please get back to me.....

Jim

if he doesn't asnwer, send a Private Message to Deron, 1600Pilot. he has punched out his baffles and his bike sounds good and still maintains the stock look.
