Oh, this is working out great by the way...

I've got a bunch of things I can work on now, so I can spend the day at it instead of trying to sneak out to the garage and tackle one little fix at a time... always works out better to be able to say "but honey, I have to check the wires, pull the front wheel off, spin the rear, yank the valve covers... this will be an ALL DAY thing!"

Jeff I listened to your audio, it sounds like an old manual typewriter. Are you sure that you don't have an old secretary hidden in there?

OH... MY... GOD... Genius. Pure, unadulterated genius.

Who would have EVER though it would be so simple as a SPRAY?! I haven't ordered it yet... what do I do, fog the cylinders with it?!

Man I LOVE this forum! What would I have ever done without you John?! I was holding out for Jamie, rusty, Kenny... but for you to come out of NOWHERE with this?! AMAZING!!!

Thanks John, I needed that!!!

lol

Another idea..
Only on decelerating you say...
Speedocable? or the speedo itself?

This weekend, time permitting, I want to try to cap the reed valves to eliminate any ticking they might be making, as well as change the spark plugs and check for arcing/ evidence of it...

If either of those solves the issue, the question is:

Would everyone prefer I performed each fix separately and report the results so that we ALL know which it was, or just do it and get it over with?!

So far, I've generally been trying everything one at a time in order to follow the process of elimination so I would know what exactly the problem was and be able to help others with it...

Thoughts?

Thought of that one (that one was early on)... because of the location of the ticking, I had high hopes for it too... but nope.

I pulled it off, re-installed it, and no change. I pulled it off, pulled the inner cable out and greased it, re-installed it, no change. It was actually in pretty good shape when I pulled it out so I knew at that point that probably wasn't it... But as a last resort, I disconnected it completely and rode around with it disconnected... no change.

Good thought though, thanks!

I know I hate 'ticking' on a Bike...Wait!, that's another thread altogether. HehHeh! Anyways, have you checked the bike in the dark, running it at night to see if you have arc occurring from the plugs or wires? Just a thought, Good luck!

Dunno, but if I find her and she's hot, how do I explain THAT to my wife?!

LOL! I'll have to add that... or did I already?! OCD is being out-paced my senility...

I haven't yet, I'm going to do that as part of the process of checking the electrical for evidence of arcing. That'll be done this weekend, and no matter what I'll report the findings of the "darkness" test... I'd like to see if I can find anything BEFORE I replace the plugs, but the plugs are due anyway...

Jeff, I have the solution:

Never Decelerate!

It works. Guaranteed!

Jeff listening to your soundclip.........it sounds like it is somethings that follows the rotation of your wheels? How ever weird it might sound.....have you checked your thread that there is nothing stuck to your tires hitting the fender?
No, definitely not something stuck to the tires, but I AM going to take the front wheel off, inspect it and put it back on. It's a bit of a crap shoot, but it's come up as a suggestion more than once so it's worth following up on!

Thanks for taking the time to listen!

You're right!!! It IS guaranteed!

You know what Rudi, all jokes aside... if I decelerate while maintain SOME throttle, meaning I only back off SLOWLY on the throttle, I can prevent it from happening. It's only during COMPLETE throttle-off that it happens...

So if you were to ask me what differences there are, I'd say differences in back-pressure (exhaust related) possible electrical resistance (going to check all that this weekend)...

What else is there that would relate to that?

it has to be something with the load on the engine or something with the "drivetrain" sice it cannot be regenerated while stopped... thats the part that ****es me off haha

anyway - i have no suggestions right now, just some material to high jack your thread

so here goes...

heres what i did today, look how nice and stright that torque curve is... im going to make a post and see what the experts think i can do to make the bike the best it can be

Thanks again... but I think I've exhausted all things speedo related... pulled the cable (rear wheel driven) and re=greased it, and even rode for a while with it disconnected... no change...

No sweat Kenny, I haven't attacked all your previous suggestions yet, hoping to get them all done this weekend if I can... it's a busy weekend, I have to go in to work for a few hours and it's my oldest son's b-day, but I'll do what I can!

Oh, and just so you know... hi-jacking the "ticking" thread is an IMPOSSIBLE feat! It's been tried... never gonna happen!!!
