Default New seat vs sheepskin cover

I have a 1600 classic and the seat has been killing me. I rode to northern wisconsin from the chicago area (300 miles one way) and my azz almost fell off. I have been looking pretty hard at the mustang seats but I have also heard that a sheepskin cover will also due the trick. Anyone out there have any info on either? Thanks!

Sheep skin should do the trick. Try this inexpensive fix instead of the expensive store bought motorcycle brand.
Go to wal-mart and buy 3 of those sheep skin wash mitts $5.00) in the automotive section. Split them open...down the seams. set them on your bike seat to measure. Sew them with the correct thread, and viola ! Theres your cover.

A couple of years ago I did the WalMart washmit cover and was pleased with the comfort. Later I found a nice thick curly whole sheepskin on ebay that I cut in half that easily covered 2 seats so my wife could have one too. That only set my back a total of $30 for both.
I have to say though that as much as they helped extend my riding time and kept me from burning my biscuits on hot days I would still get a little fanny fatigue after a couple of hundred miles. Taking a break and walking around helps.

Cheers!

I use the sheepskin cover on top of the gel seat. It not only adds comfort, it keeps the gel seat cool in the sun.

Before you buy any sheepskin or a mustang seat - You need to look at this site and talk to him about customizing your stock seat with memory foam and gel!!!! He did my 1600 Classic for $50 or $60 dollars and it's one of the best investments I've made for my ride..... I can now ride for hours and hours with NO discomfort at all..... Make the call - you'll be glad you did!

I hate the sound of that.....Riding season being over! I don't know how you guys can put your ride away for months at a time without taking it for a spin.... That's the advantage of living here in Florida - year round riding!!!!!!

I was once thinking of plunking down the $$ for a mustang seat and I asked the same question. the sheepskin option came up and I took an old sheepskin seat cover and cut it to size. Worked like a charm. Try sheepskin first before throwing down the $$ on a mustang. maybe it will be for you, if not your not out too much $$.

I bought a sheepskin cover for my stock seat and all it ever did was keep me from getting swamp butt! After 80-100 miles I was hurting. Now I have a Mustang seat (thanks V2nkBob!) and now I can ride all day long! It was heaven on my Sturgis trip. I still keep the sheep skin cover on it so not only do I not get swamp butt but I ride in total comfort! I couldn't believe a seat could make that much difference bit it did for me.
