Default Price and Dealership - 05 Vulcan 2000

First I wanted to say hi to everyone and that this forum is great. I've been lurking around and gaining a lot of information. Now on to my question.
I'm currently looking to pick up an 05 Vulcan 2000. I've been to the dealerships that are closest to my house in NJ and the best price I've been given is $13,890 with an out of door price of $15,000 and change. There is a dealership in Staten Island NY that is selling them for $12,900 but they will not quote out of the door prices over phone and the sales rep I spoke to claims that he can beat my previous deals and by more than just a few hundred dollars. What are reasonable fees to pay above the price of the bike? Is $12,900 a good price? I don't want to drive over an hour unless it's worth it.

Also, is there anyone in the NY area that has dealt with Bay Harbor Motors in Staten Island? If so, what was your experience with them?

Thanks in advance for any help you could offer!

    Jay

Jay, $12,900 sounds like a good price to me. I have not seen/heard of one that low for a 2005.
You may still wish to negotiate some deals on accessories with the initial deal, too. Just a thought!

    Welcome Jay!

It seem's like another member just asked this same question about the 05 and I believe he was quoting the same $12,900...maybe not OTD. You could try www.cycletrader.com to check prices from other dealers in your area for a comparison.

    Im right here!!!

I paid $14,800 out the door with an extra 4yr warranty.. I also ordered it in Dec 2004.. Right now, you can get a new 05 $12,999 + tax, etc.. Depending on the color you wanted, you could get a steal on an 04 leftover.. example.. my dealer has the maroon 04 (that i demo'd) with some cobra pipes on it, and i think he is looking for something like 11,900..

I'm really impartial to color since I plan to paint it anyway. The dealers I've gone to were out of 04's, how far from jersey are you NYcruiser?

Since the price was much lower than most other dealers I was just concerned that they would be hitting me with a lot more charges out of the door and that the price would be right back at where I started. I'm gonna take a ride there and check it out.

    Thanks for the responses guys!

I'm not very close to long island myself....I'm right on the border of upstate NY/Rockland County.

Ok definitely not a lunch time thing...lol....about 2 hours away.

Thanks for the info though. I'm going to check out the dealer in Staten Island first and see what he has to offer, if it's a bust I will probably take a ride up to Albany.

    Thanks!

Ok so I went to the dealership at lunch. Long haul to try and swing during work but I did it and should be picking up my new 05 Vulcan 2000 tomorrow!

Total price as of right now is $13,604. Since it was out of state that did not include the tax. So it should add another $800 to the price.

Now I just have to get the insurance and I'm in!

    Thanks for the help guys.

Wow! That's awesome. Please be sure to post pics of the new scoot, and let us know your review as you ride through 0, 500, 1000 miles. There are some of us that are waiting in the wings to hear first impressions as we (I) drool over the thought of stepping up to the big 2000

Man those are incredible prices for so much bike. Asking price here is still AUD$23999 and the best I've seen is AUD$21999 (U$16000+)
How the heck do they do it? Come to think of it, how can they charge so much more for a HD?

I had to do it quick and painless, like pulling a band aid....otherwise the wife would have had time to change her mind. She really has no idea what kind of monster is going to be joining the family.....haha can't wait for tomorrow....feels like christmas eve!
