Default Rear Tire R and R Robbery ?

I know it is not a Kawi ( Yes I still have my Vulcan ) but I bought a 76 GL 1000 that I am rebuilding it has sat for 17 years with 22,000 miles on it, I redid the carbs and it started right up and runs great, anyway I called the local dealer to get a rear tire replaced and they want $110 in labor plus the tire, I dont know but that sounds excessive. I have changed front tires but not a rear, is it that tough and does that sound like too much $$$$ for a tire change.

Hey:
I just changed mine, they wanted $250 total or so, cuz they would have had to take off the rear drive, shocks, etc... & they said fender & exhaust also. I jacked up the bike & slipped it off with out touching the exhaust or fender, I only disconnected the brake caliper, one shock, & rear drive. I paid $45 for labor plus the new tire. Took me 25 minutes to put it back together. Did it myself 'cuz it's the only way I know it would be done right. If they do it for you make sure they torque to specs.
Good luck

$45/tire at local Maw Kawa. Thought it was steep even then but that was still the cheapest and with the shaft drive and dual disc's on the front thought it was easier. Besides is was still $20 just to mount/balance if I brought them the wheel.

yeah, $110 is very steep to remove a tire/wheel from a bike. my buddy used to run a small bike shop and even for a full dressed Goldwing i don't think he got that much. if you have a bike/atv lift, i would pull it out yourself.

I recently had both front n rear wheels removed by a Yamaha dealer and new tires put on for $60.00 labor total. The bike is a 2003 1500 Classic Vulcan with shaft drive.
