Default Tire Time... Again

It's time to reoplace tires. She got 12,000 miles out of the stockers. New ME 880's are on the way. The following week my 1600 will get its second set of tires this year. I replaced the rear ME880 in May after 17,000 miles. The front now has 31,000 and still looks very good, but I'm going to change it anyway. The rear has 13000 and, although it still has some wear left, I am going to replace it now. We log a lot of miles from now through Feb so better safe than sorry. BTW... We have found nothing close to the ME880 for overall performance and wear. It is a grippy tire and it holds up well out on the road.

The secret Dave is the tire... I have the ME800s on my 1500, put them on at 12k and have over 30k on her now (do the math)... figure I've got maybe another thousand left on the rear.... GREAT TIRES

I've run them before too, but my mileage wasn't THAT good. Y'all must use water coolers on the tires while you ride!

Yea...they're great.

Rear 880 radial installed 5,000 miles ago. Starting to cup. Installed front bias 880 150/80-16 on Sept 4th. Growled and vibrated (no, not out of balance) so bad that I took it off Sat and Avon Cobra installed.

I think the secret of good mileage and being satisfied with Metzlers 880's is riding in a straight line most of the time.

Where I ride, that's not an option.

Got my first 880 on front. Had to go Avon on rear because they were out of the 180/70-16 and kept back ordering all Sept. and finally changed to mid Oct. I had to do something so I put on the Venon R. I wrote the one you see Avon tire Impression. Dang near wrecked at top speed first time fish tailing. Seems the stock 40 psi will not work. It takes 48 psi or more to make it work. Works fine now and is on a rail in the turns. Rich came up with these higher pressures so did several others.

Are you going back with the stock size on the rear of the 900, or going larger, i.e. 200?
Do you mind if I ask where you ordered them from?
