Default Chap HELP

Ok, I think I might be doing something wrong.

I where a 58 x 32/34 (I prefer the long ones for the bike, but 32 will do). According to that I should be wearing a 8XL or 9XL chap.

HOWEVER, when I measure my thigh with pants on, I'm getting 40", I'm measuring at the thicket part of the leg am I'm pretty sure I'm parallel with the ground. A little less, but I'm round up the last .25 inches. Well the 10XL chaps only go up to a 33" thigh.

Am I measuring in the wrong place? I'm just baffled that I can fit ANY pair of 58 pants, but the 10XL chaps have smaller legs. That doesn't make any sense, MOST of us will wear pants under the chaps so shouldn't the chaps be bigger cut than the pants.

Am I missing something in there?

You must be a freak of nature

Try the Leather Chaps, Leather Overpants & Leather Pants from Fox Creek Leather
site, they carry many odd sized chaps. I got my jacket from them and I'd definitely get chaps from these guys if/when the need arises.

I am thinking about this wrong, the chaps don't go up that high. I'll have to re-measure.

Well----I wear 46x32 jeans, and my chaps are 9xl, made by some no-name company USA Bikers Dream Apparel.

My thigh measures 31" at the largest part, on bare skin---so probably 33" over jeans. My chaps fit ok, but are a little snug on my legs. I don't know how much the waist will expand, I have it laced about as small as it will go.

I have that problem with everything though---the legs in everything are tight, especially when I am training squats heavily. My calves are the worst though---22" at their largest part, so I have to buy boot cut or really baggy jeans to get them to fit.

So, that being said---it sounds like you are out of luck for anything off-the-shelf. I think you will have to go custom.

Wife had the same problem. 33" thighs.
Went with a custom-cut from Fox Creek.

Be careful online... I found one site that sold 5x, but had no sizing chart.
According to OTHER sizing charts, 5x would fit (and she wears a 5x jacket).
Ordered them, they don't fit.
Did a little more homework, and that particular brand runs 2-sizes smaller than "everyone else".
I measured them... sure enough, they matched everyone else's 3x, and even though 5x was on their charts, nobody sold them.

How far up to the chaps go?

I keep seeing pictures of chaps on people and the inner part only goes half way up their leg...

Either way I have a plan. I'm going to buy a 10XL set, if they fit, great, but what I plan on doing is taking these to my Aunty. She is a seamstress and has the stuff to sew leather, but doesn't have a pattern or familiarity with chaps and she is a bit of a perfectionist, so telling her to make me a pair of leather pants without a crotch or arse just wasn't good enough. Anyway, she said she should be able to at least widen out the top portion of the chap so my chunky legs will fit in there. We had to do something similar when I was in highschool so the football pants would fit. This problem was compounded in college thanks to squats and cleans, of course I'm about 100lbs heavier than I EVER was in college and it's not all lean muscle (well the 100 is NO lean muscle, I meant that some of the rest isn't lean muscle anymore). I digress...

Anyway, I'm giving this a shot becuase the local shops around these parts are notorious for taking their time to get stuff done.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

My chaps end right about 3/4 of the way up my thigh, which happens to be the largest part on me.

That is probably a good plan you have going.

I wear 42x30 jeans and my chaps -- I don't remember the manufacturer -- are XLs.
