i think the same sometimes, but ape's are meant for the classic style bike.
i think they look odd on Customs, especially sleek and sexy ones

I'm switching to 18s soon. The 16s are ok but since I got used to them, they don't really feel like apes. My hands are straight out in frt of me now but I want them up a little more. I thought about the "risers on the cheap" mod but I don't want to bring the bars back any.

As far as looks go, the Classic bars that I had on my bike looked the best. I had narrowed them slightly and had them turned down as far as I could get them.

Apes are about feel and comfort to me.

Nahh... the original apes were installed on the old Harley FX and other "Wide Glide" series bikes with the tall, skinny front tire.

Choppers were mostly based on those frames... owners didn't tend to mess with the FLH frames much.

APES are cool.

I have 16s on mine.

Much better than stock. When I get my touring bike (if I keep this one) I'll put the windshield off and put on the 18s or 20s.

Well since the 2006 V2K LTD was mentioned, I may as well through up some old pics of it with 16" Kongs.

Looks great with those 12.5 mini apes. Did you had to change any of the cables?

It doesn't look like he didn't... and look at his clutch cable.

We've had two people here running 12" apes who have had their clutch cable break due to the angle at the lever.

Nope. Apes cured that problem for me.

Some of the guys on the Delphi forum, have been having problems with both stock and Barnett replacement cables on the V2K.
They're now giving Motion Pro a try.

Same here. I got a throttle lock because my hands, especially my right, would get tingly after about 30 minutes. then every 10 minutes after that. i used the lock to hang or wiggle my hand to wake it. since putting my apes on, I havent used the lock for that purpose yet.

Haha, I probably should. Actually, I should be banned for posting pics that are over a year old. It looks pretty much the same right now except that it now has a Mustang seat on it and front tire is getting pretty worn.

and thanks!

Pecos...I just purchased the exact same bars. How much did you extend from your stock cables?

Congrats!

I went +6 on the cables. I think the throttle cables could have gone +4 since they're looping higher in the air than the clutch cable is.
