Default Very nice ride, with a surprise!

Weather is great! Cloudy, cool this morning, great day for a Poker Run. I ran to the gas station, filled up, then drove 194.9 miles round trip, and returned to the same gas station, filled it up again. 3.501 gallons.

Did the math, and the 900LT got 55.6 mpg.

About twenty miles was interstate, about 75-78 mph as indicated, and the rest were two-lane highways and mild hills. I usually get 48-52 mpg tank-to-tank, including some city driving, but with the cost of gasoline getting so high, I have been checking it thoroughly lately.

Nice surprise!

Out of idle curiosity, is your speedometer/odometer corrected or are you just figuring your mileage "as indicated"? For every 14.2 miles I travel, my odometer indicates 14.7. My speedo is 5mph fast at all indicated speeds (both figured using GPS). I require a little calculator work come fillup time, but it still comes to slightly better than 51-52mpg. Quite respectable in my book

Thought it would be cheaper in LA now. Here in PA it's a dollar lower than it was at the begnning of summer. Those 900's are a great bike.

Had our first gas go to $2.99 here in central Alabama. One of the benefits of a crappy econonomy.

Sorry...played music gig last night and church this morning.

"AS INDICATED"

After we traveled maybe 125 miles or so, most guys had to refuel. [Okay, I'll say it...the Harley's were near empty, but the GoldWings and Vulcans (there were only two in our group) were fine. Not a slam on HD, but a slam at their small tanks. My best riding buddy has a nice Harley, but we stop for fuel quite often just for him - he even jokes about it.]

Yeah, I saw three places yesterday with gasoline $2.98 and $2.99 for regular.

Riding in a large group (which I don't like to do) requires a little slower speeds and slower starts. I just expected to buy more gasoline to top it off.

And, let me state for those of you who haven't been here...Louisiana is a gorgeous state. Millions of trees (north Louisiana), thousands of miles of backroads, literally thousands of ponds and lakes, just breath-taking scenery. I love it when someone in the group knows a backroad to get to the same destination. I traveled places and highways yesterday where I have never been. Simply gorgeous! And, we usually ride year-round.

No, being from Michigan, you have trouble enough with your football team.

Thumbs up Natchez Trace Trip today

I took off today for a nice peaceful ride outside Nashville on the Natchez Trace. Looks like many other bikers had the same idea. Many of us stopped at the renowned Lovelace Cafe for their world famous biscuit breakfast, (wait times of 30 minutes!). At about 9am it was 68 degrees and just perfect for the trip on a 2 lane, well manicured hiway with all the trees just starting to turn colors. I filled up the 900LT at the beginning of the ride and averaged 56 mpg. Stopped at one of the rest stops and met allot of new friends on bikes (both metric and HD) and everyone seemed to have a nice relaxing day on 2 wheels.
