Default Kuryakyn ISO Grips for the 1500 Classic

I had a girls day out on Saturday by going to 3 local area bike shops to browse their selection of goodies. Yeah, I shopped till I dropped, well almost.

Anyway, I picked up a set of Kuryakyn ISO grips for my bike. Since it was late in the day by the time I got home and was again heading out to the track for a night under the lights, I decided to install them on Sunday. Sunday came and my whipped buddy got a day pass from his Mrs and called to make a ride, whats a guy gonna do. I leathered up and went for a great ride down to Everett then east up US 2 to Stevens Pass, what a great 200 mile ride, but I'll chat that up later.

Anyway, back on topic, I got home Sunday afternoon and after letting the bike cool down a bit jumped into the installation (I also had to get an update on the NASCAR race (dang Jeff Gordon)). It couldn't be an easier process to change out the grips. The right side went on with no problem at all. The left side was just as easy, I sure was leary of slicing the grip with a razor. Be careful when using the glue on the left grip, the directions say it will set up immediately when you stop moving it, they are right! Make sure you test fit the grip for comfort before you glue, stong stuff.

They look great and feel good. The only issue I have with the ISO grips is that my vista throttle lock won't work, oh well, i'll buy something else and stimulate the economy again.

Ordered mine yesterday, along with the throttle lever. Will post pictures as soon as I get them installed.

I have the throttle boss on with my iso's, it helps a lot. I also bought the clever lever from nopork.com, works fine as a throttle lock, and no where near as ugly as the vista cruise. It works fine with the iso grips.

I just installed the throttle boss before I left for vacation. I haven't had a chance to use it a lot, but I really like it. Dave, you're going to LOVE those ISO grips. They're so comfortable!

I had the same hesitation when I went to install my grips. I found that by twisting the left one I got the glue to give way and took it off in one piece. I dry fit the new ones but havent glued them yet. I am waiting on news of the carbs to make sure the bike is still a keeper. How did you get the two grips to match up or align? I am thinking i will have to wait till the carbs are installed to see where idle is on the right to match the left to. Or do you just adjust the cables to match them up?

the right grip is pretty much set in where it aligns based on the way the cables lay in. I matched my left grip to match the right grip, its pretty comfortable that way

That is why I asked. I dont have any carbs on the bike right now. So I wanted to know if I have to wait so the throttle and the left side will match.

If you don't want to cut your old ones, do like I did and run a flat blade screwdriver under it, roll it around as you twist and pull, comes right off.
