I've always worn a FF and I'm considering getting a half helmet. Regarding eye protection what's everyone's opinion on glasses versus goggles? I generally want to know what the pro's and con's are so I can make a more informed decision. Do you use the foam gaskets behind the glasses or not? Is fogging a problem? etc...
thanks!

I have a pair of glasses with foam on the inside and really like them. I found them at one of those cheap kiosks at the local mall and surprisingly they fit my face very good...pretty much no air gets in and dries out my eyes. I do experience some fogging at stoplights if it's cold outside, but as soon as I start moving it immediately goes away. It's not enough to be a hazard.

My old flight goggles had dual lenses to prevent the chill on the outside and the humidity on the inside from preventing the fogging.
WARNING from another thread.... Avoid using sunblock in some circumstances with FF, it can become volatile (not flame stuff) and really make you tear and lose a lot of vision. Probably not a big factor in this season, but "Summer happens!" Use Microfiber to polish the vision components. On sale at Harbor Freight now. (not an ad, I fly my own....)

GOGGLES, or GLASSES WITH FOAM!!! ABSOLUTELY!!! I went the better part of a year with regular glasses... liked the look, fit great, easy to put on and take off... but after a long trip (700km), my eyes were KILLING me. Watering, dry, felt like they were cracking out of my head.
I found and bought a pair of goggles at a booth where we were, and I'll never look back, no comparison. You take the goggles off after no matter how long and your eyes feel perfect. It's a matter of keeping all the high volume, high velocity wind out of them over the length of the ride...

I wear glasses with foam. You MUST have the foam. I tried just using sunglasses - big mistake. I like the glasses because you can use them as sunglasses after you remove your helmet and not look like a tool.

I like the tinted version of these:
Great wind and UV protection, and they're cheap too. Uvex - U.S. leader in industrial safety eye and face protection I have goggles for windy days when the dust is really flying.

Since I have a windshield I do not need the foam type glasses- however things can come around the sheild so the foam is an added layer of protection. There are two types of foam- the 'flimsy' type which does not last long and comes unglued, and the denser type which seems to last/wear longer. (the denser type has a smooth surface). A drawback to glasses is that the arms can cause uncomfortable pressure on the bone above your ears (the earbone?) after a long period of time. If I really like the glasses I will cut the arms shorter to avoid this. Goggles are very good also, with the exception that the strap sometimes winds up pressing down on your ears.

+1 above.
With the shield or fairing, regular full-wrap sunglasses are all I wear, and for short night rides around home I don't wear anything. At highway speeds I'll wear a pair of clear safety glasses at night. Without a shield or fairing, I can't handle speeds above 45 without my eyes tearing up and running down my cheeks... not to mention the dirt and crap that get into them. Gotta wear at the very least, sunglasses with the hard foam surrounds to block the airflow.

Regular glasses don't work that well. My windshield caused my glasses to jump around quite a bit I personally can't wear goggles, cause they fog up on me. No big deal with a FF helmet. For the half shell I got some shades with a firm foam around the edges from the HD dealer here. What I paid was way too much. They came with three replaceable different shade lens. Regular wrap around safety glasses would probably work.

I wear hard contact lenses so my eyes are sensitive to wind or dirt. I used to wear Gargoyle ANSI Classics in grey during the day and clear at night but at $65.00-$95.00 a pair they got expensive after a while. Then I discovered the safety glasses available at Home Depot had a similar shape that gave wrap around protection from the wind and UV protection as well at about $8.00 a pop. I wish I had made the discovery a few years earlier since I would have saved at least $1000.00 over my career. The Memphis Fats windshield on my 900 doesn't offer the same protection as the fairings on police bikes so now I wear sunglasses with foam. I have used several brands that were close outs and have had the arms break on three pairs so far in a few months. Now I'm using the safety glasses again till I find some that last. Some mentioned here look promising but I hate to go back to expensive specs.
