Default Luggage please help.

I’m thinking of getting luggage rack for my VN900 LT and some bags for it or getting luggage that would go on passenger seat and over sissy bar? I don’t know if I want rack on my bike but if I get any I’ll get original Kawi.
Any recommendations or pictures of different luggage or racks?

I saw one on ebay for $255.69. I want one but they are ridiculously overpriced. Cobra makes one to fit their backrest that's more reasonably priced but I'm not buying a Cobra backrest just to get a luggage rack either.

I have a Cobra luggage rack and went with the Saddlemen Fastback bag (medium). Really like the bag and it will sit on the passenger seat or on the luggage rack. Good bag for 2 or 3 day trip. Added the roll bag which snaps right on top. FWIW, I had the bag before I got the luggage rack and have only used the luggage rack when the wife was with me. I prefer to have it sitting on the passenger seat so I can use it for a backrest. Pretty good price here...

This luggage rack is powder coated in black and was designed to flow with the lines of the Vulcan rear fender. I like this rack the best of all the ones I looked at and I like the black on my bike much better than chrome.

Buy the rack. When riding solo, leave it off. If you need luggage, the bag can be tied normally to the sissy bar, but flipped around in front... better balance and it doubles as a rider backrest if you tie a pillow to the front.

For 2-up touring, install the rack, flip the bag around, and have your passenger hold the pillow

I also have a 900LT with a aftermarket luggage rack. I strap a regular backpack onto the rack, worked fine for me. For the seat I bought this piece for a long trip (5 days) 1700 miles. It was a back saver. There is not a whole lot of storage in it, a couple shirts and pants will fit in main pouch, a couple of small pouches on sides for maps and other small items. A helmet will not fit in.

Here's a bag that does double duty. Designed from the start to serve as both a rigid frame backrest and a bag, the Tombstone Bag provides solid lumbar support and a handy place to store essentials. Zippered pockets, clips and pouches inside the bag keep everything organized and easy to find. The Tombstone Bag is designed to fit on all motorcycles with a passenger backrest. A dual adjustable hook and loop strap system goes through and around the solid PVC frame to attach securely to the backrest.

Included Items: 1/2" Pad, 2" Pad, 3" Pad, Inside Frame (Removable for Helmet Storage), Inside Pocket with Elastic Straps, Inside Pocket with Mesh Front, Two Side Bags, Rain Cover, Four Straps with Clip & Shoulder Strap
Dim: 12" Long x 12" High x 9" Wide

4143 Tombstone Bag $159.99 Qty

If you want to get a large rack for your bike, check out wompusracks.com. Wompus racks for the 900 are very strong and provides a large surface to put your luggage on.

I like the Kuryakyn Grantour bags. Like the removability, the backrest......nice bags. Depends on your needs I suppose. There are some great ideas on here. Thanks. Dave

I have seen them as low as $199 on e-bay from the stores. I was lucky and bought one for $125(including shipping) off of e-bay. You have to be patient and watch for them.

Mine cost $80.00 from leather-up and has a 2" expanding panel so it can hold more stuff.

There's also a roll bag for the top. Plus it makes a great backrest while on the road.

I also got a riggpaks ctb950 which I ordered from value accessories Value-Accessories - Luggage (NELSON-RIGG / T-Bags / Kuryakyn / Willie&Max / Misc.), Covers, Misc. Chrome I have been very happy with it when I travel alone it can be used as a backrest otherwise it fits very nice on the luggage rack

I'd say shop around. Depending on how much you plan to use it I have seen cheaper models as low as $80 with a roll bag. You can spend over 300 if you plan to use it every weekend.

Here's a pic of my setup. I have the Kury Ultra Tour Bag. You can set it up like you see in the pics sitting on the passenger seat or turn it around and set it on the luggage rack. As you can see in the on pic, I bungeed my helmet on the top and my jacket on the front for kind of a back rest. I think I'll find me one of those lumbar support pillows to bungee on next time and that should be just about perfect!

Any way the bag itself is very large and all four side pockets expand out. Also each side has a zipper extending around almost the entire perimeter edge of the bag so that the sides open up like a large door. Or there is the zipper opening on the front if the items your putting in it aren't too large. It also has tons of D-rings so you can bungee or tie other luggage items to it. All zippers are supposed to be water-proof but it does come with a rain cover. On this particular trip I had (4) one gallon bottles of RV anti-freeze inside that I was taking down to Lake Powell to winterize a houseboat and I still had alot of room to spare. About $140 at most any place that sells them. This one happens to be one of my Sturgis souvenirs!

They're pretty strict about carpool lanes in Utah

Now that I think of it... that's exactly where MY helmet was during the Red Lodge trip until we got back to Nevada
