no. my bike's not lowered at all.
and i wasn't leaning much this morning.
It was literally barely a touch of counter-steer to guide the bike around a really really slight righthand bend in the road. It wouldn't classify as corner and doesn't really classify as a bend either... it's just a nominal change in direction, maybe one or two degrees... really no more of a lean than you would use to change lane on the interstate. Just a tap down on the right handlebar grip.

But yes, i do drag my pegs and pipes going around some corners... But we have some tight roundabouts!

Just imagine being able to ride in a big circle, sometimes a small circle, and as you tighten the circle you can lean further... if you start wide you can really counter-steer and lean into the bend and the bike will just tip and tip and tip until the pegs touch and then the pipes... it's at that point i straighten up again as i'll probably come off or turn too tightly, go off course and hit something. I don't do it when the road's busy or in the slightest bit wet, but most roundabouts are usually quite empty and have good grip. This is at no more than 15-20 mph too.

Wish i had a pic.

hehe, you can call me Evel if you want though

Holy **** Steve glad your ok mate . Bad day all in all then . Good job you had all your gear on and the engine guards. It was terribly icy this morning . I dont grind nearly as much as I used to after nearly fliping the bike 3 months ago . Scary stuff. Ice , not for me the tube is warmer and safer hehehe.

Main thing is your Ok mate , see you soon.

Hey Steve... you never really want to believe that "it's going to happen eventually", but if it's going to, better this way than a lot of others... glad you and all three headlights are OK!

haha, thanks Druid. yeah, i'll be sticking to the Tube from now on i think... i get an extra 50 minutes sleep if i get the train can't sleep while riding a bike last time i checked.

Thanks Jeff, yeah, the headlight's fine

if you're squeamish look away now!

still here? :

the majority of the lowermost scratches (the horizontal ones) were already there from my eager cornering... the rest of the vertical ones are from this morning's slide

pipes need a final polish after the wash, but i wasn't gonna bother with wiping the watermarks off in their current state.

[puts keys back in pocket] Guess I won't be taking that ride anytime soon then...mine doesn't have crash bars

Sorry to hear about scraping up the bike a bit...but glad you're here to tell about it! Also glad to hear your crash bars kept any serious damage from happening.

Glad you're OK Steve. I'm buying engine guards this week - even though there's not much chance of ice in South Florida (just to rub it in!!!!)

Seconded, thinking about the Kawi black ones if they'll work with aftermarket intakes.

thanks guys.
Haha, yeah, not much chance of ice in florida, but i imagine it's a similar crash if you hit a patch of diesel or oil on the road...
They're a wise investment.

Oooh yesh. The lowest pipe pretty much runs at the same level as the bottom of the frame. Stock pipes sit a good few inches above the bottom of the frame.

Yo Steve!
What are all those squirrly marks on the tarmac? Did YOU do that???
Did I miss seeing your signup on the Gremlin bell exchange?
Sounds like you could use one...
I have one for you, need your postal to send it.
"Remain upright!"
pm me if you would like the bell....

Hey Tony.

What's the Gremlin Bell Exhange? I think i missed that one...
very kind of you, but I don't have one to 'exchange' with you. might looks them up on eBay or something tonight.

The marks on the tarmac are burnouts... (not me) probably mostly by bikes, but maybe cars too. The Ace is a huge hang-out for vintage/modded/import cars and bikes. You get alot of stunt-riding and donuts/burnouts in their carpark.

[cringe]

Whew that picture, almost too much to handle. Just glad it's not the tank or something like that...

[/cringe]

I went ahead and wrote this for you. All you have to do is print and post.

Dear Cobra,
I have a set of your aftermarket pipes, and I want to replace them under warranty. This morning I awoke to find that during the night they jumped off the bike, went out and rubbed themselves all over the road, and then got back on the bike. If you can send me a new set for free that would be great.
Bestest Pal,
Steve

PS Please send a chrome radiator cover as well, for my troubles

Don't do it!!! It's only half as powerful if you buy it yourself!!!

This is what it was...
