Ahh thanks Jeff... so i have to buy one and then send it to someone else? Interesting. Where do you get them from? Are they all plain or do some have cool engravings on them? |

i'll look at the places online tonight. My dealer wouldn't sell them. Might check out the local Harley dealer...
Thanks ho$ ... at least the NHS is free... fixing the bike costs money!! hehe. but yes. thank goodness i'm alright. My bum and shoulder are a little sore this morning, probably just hitting the road. they're getting better as the day goes on. Inside of right knee is tender, but nothing broken or anything, so it's just bruising. I bought a metal polishing kit today. Gonna try and polish out the scratches... keep on truckin. |

Welcome to the club! I was lucky enough to not be on my bike when it kissed the pavement. A bent peg mount and scuffed up exhaust was about it. At first, the damage to the pipe bothered me, now I don't care....I just keep on ridin'!

email your address, your bell is sitting on my desk, waiting to cross the Atlantic.
Making cranberry scones tomorrow am, just might bake your bell into one to keep it safe on the trip... Roadside sign "Do not scrape bike on pavement".. musta missed that one...

Little late to this but really sorry to hear about this, Steve. Glad to know that you're alright and the crash bars did what they were supposed to. That picture of your pipes is just too much! I shed a tear for you when I saw them.

Okay that' settles it. Engine guards are the next investment I'm making for the bike. Already got a bel.
Jeff - Does the bell work at full power if it came with the bike? I bought the bike used and the bell wasn't listed in the ad, so I consider it a gift. |

Hey I forgot this....based on my past experiences with a "laid over slide" and a "tip over", be sure to recheck all of your torques. Things seem to start coming loose after stress or impact.
I slid my bike on my lt foot peg mount and a week later, the bolts backed out. It tipped over to the rt and the rt footpeg mount bolts and rear exhaust bolts came loose.

hahaha, a northerner might say 'me bum' ... down here in London where we're posh, we all say 'my bum', or if we're feeling really formal, we'll go for 'my bottom' ... or quite possibly even 'my posterior' .... but that's a little excessive.
I've have probably shouted "arrghh!!! my arse!!!!!" but it didn't hurt when i landed. Quote:
Aww, you're too kind. I'll drop my address over to you now. Could i have a scone too? I just wish i had one to send you. I'll have a look around the internet today for one to exchange with ya. Quote:

I had a SMIDSY (sorry mate, I didn't see you) on Tuesday morning near Brighton.
Thankfully the engine guards did their job. A cager had stopped and was signalling to go right, so I went down the left hand side to go past - with plenty of room - as he started to move forward and right. He then did a sudden change of mind and direction, scratching the left hand side of his car against my engine guard and running me to a halt into the cycle lane. He hadn't seen me and was in a daydream. I assertively hand signalled him to pull over. I pointed out that since I was wearing a hi-vis jacket and had a loud V-Twin engine, he had no excuse for SMIDSY and should take his head out of his arse when driving. He was extremely apologetic and slightly more awake after that. His car had a new pattern and one less functioning wing mirror, but by the looks of it, he doesn't use them anyway. Thank God for engine guards. They're still pristine and so am I.

sheesh!
glad to hear you're alright too mate! And that you didn't go over. Hehehe, nice to know his car has been re-configured as a reminder to pay attention. Too many people don't use their mirrors though. It's rubbish. Hopefully he'll be more awake and aware of bikes now! ... one hopes. isn't it weird how the engine guards don't even scratch?? wonder what they're made of.... adamantium or something |
