Default Please Help! 2009 KX85 Issues

    Hello All,

I am at wits end and hope that someone here can help. We bought my son 2 2009 KX 85 at the end of December from a local dealer (wanted to support residents in my area). Both bikes have been having issues with anti-freeze leaking into the cylinder and scaring the cylinder. I called a dealer in PA that we LOVE and their service manager said that it sounded like a warped hear, which would be a Kawasaki issue. He suggested that I call the dealer that I bought the bikes from so that they could get the issues corrected with Kawasaki. Well when I called this dealership (the one I bought the bikes from) I learned that they do not have a service manager and that they would need my bikes for serveral weeks. The store manager was rude and mean, and acted like were bothering him. I am afraid that he may mess up our bikes or even worse....

Does anyone have the number to Kawasaki so that I can contact them directly?

I dont know about dirt bike dealers but car manufacturers have a person who you go to when you have a dispute the dealer refuses to take care of. This is very common when invoking the "lemon law". The person is your representative and it is their job to fight for you against the dealer. They are assigned by a region or area. I can't recall the name (title) they are given- arbitrator maybe. Next option is a lawyer or take it to the dealer you like. Kawasaki most likely has a rep for the region. Ask the dealer you like.

Such "lemon laws" may not apply to toys not under warranty.

After a consumer invokes the lemon law, the parties arbitrate the matter in an attempt to resolve it. Some statutes provide for a state-run arbitration process. Others provide for arbitration provided by private groups such as the Better Business Bureau, or even a manufacturer-sponsored panel. Arbitration is an informal trial with a panel or individual deciding the matter. Each side tells its story. Mechanics might testify on behalf of either side. Lawyers are not required but may increase a consumer's likelihood of prevailing or settling prior to the arbitration hearing.

Don't even waste your time with Kawasaki's customer service department! I had a KX85 that I bought for my son, it ran like **** the first day and acted like it couldn't rev, like something was holding it back. Had it to the stealership twice and they said nothing was wrong. Well the third time my son tried to ride it, he got about 50 yards when the main bearings seized up! Dealer would do nothing, Kawi's customer service people were total pricks! Told me to fix it myself, no warranty it's a race bike! So **** them! I rebuilt it myself. My son's next bike will be a Yamaha! I have spent tons of money on these little Kawi's the last few years. They have the worst cylinder plating in the business, they are very prone to crank and main bearing failures, out of date suspension systems, and their customer service sucks!
    Sorry rant done.

Griff, you're back. I hadn't see you post up in a while.
FYI, did a stroker on the sons 100. man it pulls hard. botom end and hit is unreal. Also got another cylinder and head for 112cc set up. can't wait.

Sorry, didn't mean to jack thread,

Anyway. Griff's right. Kawi doesn't really back their stuff. It could be out of the showroom 5 min and it all yours.
